Number of hours worked by average person to obtain 1 ounce of gold in 10 A.D.
Equals
Number of hours worked by average person to obtain 1 ounce of gold in 2021 A.D.
Sounds like a great asset to hold for the long haul.....not

only reason why gold/silver became a thing was because Jewish bankers in the 13th century pushed it so hard, srs.

Why not invest in an asset that will grow in value over time?
Listen to what Warren Buffet has to say about gold.

“Critics of fiat currencies always make the same stupid mistake. They repeatedly point out that there is “nothing backing the US dollar”. What they utterly fail to understand -- either out of political correctness, or deep ignorance of geopolitics -- that what backs the US Dollar is quite literally the strongest and most unchallenged military in the history of the world. If the connection between military might and the strength of one’s currency is confusing, consider that ‘control of resources’ is a widely agreed upon measure of value for any nation’s currency. Another way to think of it is this: America alone has a near infinite supply of oil. Anyone arguing against the continued dominance of either the Euro or the Dollar simply needs to look at Libya. Any questions about the strength of those “currencies” now? Fiat kids are typically those who finished first year Econ, and are aghast at the audacity of the Federal Reserve and the power to create near infinite money and credit. While admittedly shocking to the neophyte -- that ability should not shock nearly as much as the other powers of our government which include the ability to take anything, anywhere, any time, at any human cost. Politically incorrect? Absolutely. Factually correct? Absolutely.” – popo

You can still see it in uncivilized parts of the world where there is little-no government/banking oversight like Africa/parts of the middle east. That's what the world is going to be like if chit hits the fan.

I want to invest in silver/gold but if society collapses what can you do with it? You can't eat it. You aren't going to make wires to conduct electricity. You aren't going to use it as antibacterial. Gold and silver only function as hedges against inflation. Precious metals are only valuable if fiat currency is valuable.
I think putting money into objects that can give a return is much more valuable. For example putting $3,000 into all the supplies and knowledge to raise rabbits and chickens which will give meat, eggs, and fur. The meat eggs and fur you can actually trade as they are useful. $3,000 of gold/silver just sits in a closet doing nothing.

Not the worst idea in the world to have a few silver Eagles and smaller gold coins, but you have to be a legit retard to spend significant money on it when crypto and playing options on stocks gives such huge and easy profits.

If society collapses you better be invested in guns and bullets not gold and silver.
Unless it’s to pay off the guy with the guns and bullets.
