NYC is a hellhole right now

I left before the pandemic but my female cousin who lives on the Upper West Side has just been assaulted (non sexually thank God). Most of my friends who are still there have stories over the last year ranging from burglaries to actually being stabbed!

NYC was the poster child for a city cleaning up its act. What has happened? It can’t just be the mayor right?

It’s mostly the mayor, well the government, combined with the degradation of society, as well as covid restrictions that killed small businesses and made the upper middle class flee the highest cost of living city in the country.

What’s happened in NYC is truly a shame….the last time I was there was in late 2019 and it was not nearly as bad as it is now.

I actually thought the homeless situation is NYC was leaps and bounds above that in LA.

I'm particularly angry at the Mayor for forcibly mandating all private businesses to have only vaccinated (both shots) employees by Dec 27. So many people will end up being unemployed and small businesses will collapse. So much for a Merry Christmas...

NYC has always been a chithole, but the over whelming police pressence they implemented after .9/11 kept the crime and vagrants in check. But that could only do so much, and last so long

I honestly think we are seeing the fall of Western civilization in real time, the world has gone mad.

The students being taught CRT in school are now graduating, and that destructive ideology being unleashed on society will hasten the downfall.

If a culture has no pride in its' history and doesn't know its' cultural roots then it is destined for decay and is a sitting duck for a stronger, prouder society (China, Russia, strict Islam states).

This BLM stuff has further divided an already fractured society, and it seems like the utter hysteria and mass psychosis around covid will be the death knell. Combine this with the absolute dearth of leadership or any semblance of a unifying force in politics and I wouldn't be surprised if we see the US (and possibly a few other societies) descend into civil war.

It will be a generation at least before we recover because we will be reaping the "benefits" of critical race theory for at least the next 20 years as wokeness infests corporate, government and media institutions.

The mayor has done everything in his power to weaken law enforcement, empower criminals, punish tax payers, punish people who work, and blame the outcome on others. It’s so bad that I’m convinced it’s an intentional effort to ruin the city.

LOL, I can tell nobody has been to NY recently in this thread, which is fine, but you have to understand that your opinion is nonsense...

NYC is fine and thriving. The basically mandatory vax thing sucks and i disagree with the stance. but, if youre vaxed, its honestly the best city in the US to be in right now. I have no idea where anyone is getting their intel on it being such a chithole mess to be honest?

My visits to NYC were not pleasant. Human poop in the subway, rats and garbage everywhere, and people are weird.

the only thing that has changed dramatically is politics, and the current era Democratic party is what is cuasing this in all of the major cities.

Their woke politics are far more destructive than they are even minutely beneficial, which is what people have been screaming for the past 2 years, but people like jaydawg make up the majority who cant think more than 1 move ahead.

Yeah I lived there for years but only after Giuliani. The opportunistic and random crimes are not something I’m accustomed to. The lack of NYPD presence is also noticeable, 4 years ago there was literally one everywhere I turned.

Most major cities are having major homeless/addict issues. Our main tourist area is basically overtaken and nobody wants to go anywhere near it now.
