A guy 2 years younger to me just got a base salary of 80k/year
In Massachusetts.
I just started my graduate program , its a one year course. I'm 26 now
This guy whom I just met he's gonna start earning that much at 24.
By the time I start earning next year, he might be earning more .
Misc, I'm a few years behind my peers . I don't care about the certificates.
But the fact that someone younger than me is earning more than me and I haven't even gotten a proper job yet.
Is it something to be worried about? I think so , it's disappointing me . Like why even try
Will I ever earn that kind of money where I dwarf every one no matter at what age they are. Will it be sooner enough so I am still good looking to pull Stacy's?
Dear slim ...

Is this a real question? If so then just wait until you hit your 30s and look young and good yourself, but see 100K+ sales type jobs go to hot girls in their mid 20s who have barely any qualifications or experience. Who cares what anybody else makes at the moment? Spending your life comparing yourself to others is useless. Do your best and your time will come when it comes. Mine just happened at 37 but I'm being forced to vax or fake a covid card for about 150K a year in Atlanta. Very good money here, but go figure covid has to derail it.

I felt way ahead of everyone at 22 making $60k/yr (base and gross). Now I'm 26 making $80k/yr base, $110k gross. I feel like in general the older you get, the larger leaps forward in salary you need to feel ahead of everyone.
To be in the top 10% at 25 for USA, you need $78k.
To be in the top 10% at 35 for USA, you need $130k.
To be in the top 10% at 45, 55, 65, for USA, you need around $150k.
This is 2021 numbers for individual incomes (not household).

There's a guy I know who, when he was my age, had a salary of $140k, but he also had a Master's Degree, and like ~$80k student loan debt. And I wager he had little to no income until he was 24/25, so I got a head start despite him having a larger jump.

I've learned over the years that you can only make more if you ask or lie about your previous salary when getting a new job (dfs). If you don't have the balls to do that then you can't cry when other people make more than you for the same position.

Imagine caring what other people are making. You will be a miserable person if you do. Work on yourself and ignore everyone else.

Who cares. My best friend was making 50K two years removed from high school and he used to brag about it. Even told me that going to college is a waste. 10 years later he is making 65k and I made over 200k. He is now asking me for advice lmao

It's only a problem if you're doing the same job while getting paid less. Otherwise, getting into salary dick-measuring with strangers is a recipe for a miserable life.

I once had a writing job when I was 20 at a comedy television show in the early ‘90s. I came up with some great ideas, and was applauded for my talent. The problem arose when an acting coach tried to do my job, and he had zero writing talent. Let’s say I came up with an idea about someone going to the DMV with a wheelbarrow full of pennies to pay a bill.
His variation on my idea was that the character was paying with $20 bills, which makes no sense. All of his ideas were just as stupid, and he would over ride me and force me to do things his way. He was in his 60s, so management assumed he knew what he was doing, but I and everyone who knew him thought of him as a charlatan. When his ideas didn’t pan out, he would blame me and say they were my ideas; if I came up with a great idea, he would steal the credit.
I helped get him fired, and people broke out champagne bottles when he was fired.
The difference between my situation and yours is that I was directly affected by what he did. It sounds like you’re just jealous that this guy is skating by on a free ride while you have to work harder than him.
Just ignore him and get on with your life, unless you’re questioned about him by a superior.

If someone makes more, strive to do better then ask for a raise and explain why. There's youtube videos on how to do that.
