Why do so many people try and overcomplicate lifting?

You seen all this junk BS people pedal online, be it suppliments, "systems", I saw this one idiot saying "dumbells aren't enough" and had this dude chest flying some chains that looked like they weighed like 15kg each.

Lifting is literally the most simple thing going.

Pick a workout plan with enough volume, whatever plan you like.

Eat in a small surplus to gain, small defecit to lose

. 8-1gm protein per pound.

And just get in the gym consistently and train with intent.

Like that's it, that's all there is to it, why do people try make out that it's rocket science

A lot of money in making it seem more complicated than it is. Especially for personal trainers.

I think deep down they know you can easily just look up what to do on your own but you’re too weak to motivate yourself. That’s all personal training really is.

I see instagram bunnies showing “fitness vids” alllllll the time and they’re just doing fukking burpees, pushups, and sit-ups, lol.

Just come out and say it. “I got a bangin body so just look at it from multiple positions in these tight yoga pants.”

Fitness gurus pretend it's more complicated than it is to trick people into paying for their services. If everyone knew how simple it is, no one would pay for that chit

It's only rocket science if you want to compete at the top 1% level in something.

It's interesting in the different ways people approach bodybuilding, I've never been particularly interested in what weight I can lift or how many reps of a particular exercise I do. I think you can get bogged down with all that stuff, I actually Judge my progress on more on how I look. I'm not the least interested "systems,"
when people ask what I do, I find it quite difficult to answer as it's all a bit random, I do what I do rather then conform to some ridged program, I'm dedicated and have been more or less consistent for over 20 years of weight training, that works for me!

because people have done everything you stated and then plateaud in a year because thats about as far as you are going to go on something as simple as you stated

most people perform exercises only activated about half or less of the muscle fibers of the target muscle, eventually you have to learn how ot activate 70, then 80, then 95% of those fibers. As that happens your volume has to decrease or you wont recover and grow.

Progress is slow and meanwhile, they start to doubt themselves. This results in a lack of consistency and they make even less progress, causing the cycle to repeat itself

As far as lifting goes I've always just focused around the "big 7" and added in some dumbell stuff for legs, shoulders arm work. Pretty much if i could do 3 sets of 10 reps, it was time to add more weight. Try to get to 3 sets of 10 on the new weight. Rinse and repeat. I should have added a lot more stretching when I was younger though.

Also in after Clive. My first time.

Because no one wants to hear the truth that consistency and dedication with diet/training are what drive results. Not magic powders, routines or diets.

I think it’s because the truth - building a solid physique naturally takes many years of consistent training and diet - is uncomfortable. So people look for shortcuts.

We live in a society full of insecure people who feel they need to catch up to their peers around them. They look for shortcuts and quick fixes instead of putting in the time and effort. This phenomenon isn’t unique to dudes getting jacked. Spend 15 minutes on YouTube and you can probably find a whole bunch of financial gurus who promise to make you rich quick, or fashion models full of silicone and Botox who can help women lose weight with some “secret” diet. If you play guitar there’s some clown out there who claims he can turn you into a shredder in 30 days. And so on and so forth.

As long as people continue to want things they can’t have, someone else will be trying to convince them to part with their dollars in order to acquire it. Tale as old as time.

Breaks my heart that pirates spend their whole lives following a map, when the real treasure is the friendships they build along the way.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

People like to feel like they are in control. So they buy the GASP t-shirt, Animal Pak multis, Nike Metcons, newest fad pre-workout with heart bursting caffeine levels, follow strict 'program' co-signed by Jim Stoppani etc. All of these things combined may add a 5% boost in performance if you actually believe it does mentally.

In some ways, I feel like we need this. It's kind of like professional wrestling. I mean, even if you know deep down that it isn't real, you kind of pretend it is and suspend disbelief for a while just for fun.
