When public it was overrun with bots. There were countless threads started with horrific gifs of beheadings, people chitting, just all kinds of nasty stuff. The moderators are volunteers and would sit there for hours just deleting these "threads."

It was made private to slow down the traffic of these constant threats. Just think if you were at work and wanted to check a thread about bouncing teds and your boss sees a video of a sloot pissing on dishes. Not good for your career.

At any rate the Moderator team here hasn't always been composed of the best and brightest, but they cleaned house. Just wish Mods could chime in not hide in their secret forum.
