Are you doing the work? Is your relationship and your plan solid? It can take a while for it to kick in.

Keep pushing forward man. Sounds like you're in a bubble where things are no good to begin with, and a girl was the only thing that made it worth standing. Finding happiness in your job is a pipe dream for most people. I don't know hardly anybody who has a job of the saying "do what you truly love and you'll never work a day in your life." Find and try something us. Become a skydiving instructor if you wish. Branch out and find happiness elsewhere and with new people. Nothing is stopping you.

Perhaps move to a place with nicer weather and more sunshine than the UK. That'll up your spirits. Lack of sunlight cities are like the highest suicide cities in the USA.

Yeah, minus the past week or so been putting a lot more effort into socializing etc. Which has been going good I think overall. COVID still cucking though.

In terms of the counselling specifically though, I haven’t been given any new advice or insight that I haven’t essentially figured out myself through introspection or research. Now that can vary by person, psychologist, etc which I think is the main factor determining how helpful counselling is, and why I’ve not really wanted to bother with it in the past.

Plants need sun and rain to grow brother.

6 months from now things will feel that much sweeter because you'll be contrasting it to hard times. If life was good all the time you'd take the good for granted. Make a plan and change what isn't making you happy. Call your family! Find a hobby or a way to give back. Don't give up and PM if you need someone to chop chit thru with. Serious.
Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

Just remember there is always a tomorrow, and no state in life is permanent unless you do nothing about it and even then permanence isn't guarantee.

If you truly think you've hit rock bottom, guess what? there's nowhere else to go but up, so find something you're passionate about, if there isn't anything get your ass out there, join a Sunday League and meet new people while getting fit, hobbies are often times a way to meet new people when we're older.

I don't really cry with actual life, more so with movies.

Cried watching Spider Man at the theater.

I hear you. The past couple years of my life have sucked pretty badly for similar reasons. Wife left me for some bum and broke our family up years ago, both of my parents' health have been getting a lot worse, only have a few legit friends IRL and just one of them has been a legit bro to me since then. My job would be okay if it weren't for the fact that I work with a ton of immature dipchits who have regularly gone out of their way to give me chit for my divorce and try to make me feel worthless since it happened. Only very recently have I started legitimately feeling a bit better about life despite the bs. However, things are getting better.

You need to not only look at the things that are good in your life, but also focus on things you have control over trying to improve. You need to do your best to move towards accepting the bs you have no control over and worrying more about what you *can* do. It's natural to feel pain over chitty things that happen to you, but you can't dwell on them to the point of letting them consume you long-term.

Also, do NOT try to self-medicate your way out of it. Might be natural to want some beers or whatever sometimes when you feel crappy about things, but you can't let it become a habit/crutch. If you let that happen, you'll only make things worse for yourself, and it tends to only drive people further away from you that could be helping you feel better just by being a part of your life in some capacity.

That's my advice. Keep it simple and start focusing on what you can do to improve your life and don't let yourself get reliant on unhealthy crtuches like booze and what have you. You'll be fine brah, just gotta do your part in improving your situation.

Also, forget about your ex and don't let that chit bother you. Remember, she tossed you to the curb like yesterday's trash while disregarding all history with you. She is definitely comfortable with her choices and long moved on from you, perhaps even months prior to dumping you. That's usually how that goes. So don't get hung up worrying about what that bitch thinks of you, or what could have been if she hadn't broken up with you. Forget all about her. Srs.
Not my story but rhymes.

If you are struggling you might read up on the dark night of the soul, or identity crisis.

I've been through difficult periods before. This one just seems like it will never let up.
