Starting to walk back on my "lol @ tradies srs crew" stance

Work for a company that employs tradies, and they are much better people to deal with than office-cels. Usually tend to be more chill people and more honest and at least self-aware of their own phuck-ups. Yes tradies do the darnest things but at least they are direct and upfront.

With office-cels you get more scapegoating, lack of accountability and gossiping. Also generally a lot more bi*ching. Like I aint tryna read your email about Susan from reception forgetting to deliver your invoices to AP or Roger the purchasing manager forgetting to sign off on a purchase of ball point pens and coffee packets. Or somebody getting their feelings hurt.

Fuk office-cels and lol @ office-cels srs even though I'm an office-cel. Actually a WFHcel but you get the point. Fuk dealing with these people lmao. Tradie lifestyle seems more appealing, brb going for monster energy drinks with the bros at the Esso gas station or going to some tradie level restaurant chain like Swiss Chalet or below chit-tier like Subway and just kicking it, talking about whatever and nobody giving a phuck.

I may just amend my sig, not prepared to fully get rid of the "lol @ tradies srs" but perhaps I should also include a lol @ office-cels srs alongside it to signify that both are equally laughable.

electrical service would have been/ would be GOAT if i had a buddy i really got along with

it's fun as fuk going to people's houses, them explaining whats going on and or you having to investigate/ troubleshoot whats going on. going through a methodical process to pinpoint the problem

pull out your big azz tool and cut through their wall to find the problem or install something new. there's a certain satisfaction in seeing it work

you'll know if you've ever built a simple circuit and see the light come on

people will tip you too

It’s true. I look back on my days as a tradie fondly. Having been an office manager at a few places now, all it is really is glorified babysitting. Women in the workplace make it miserable. They constantly tell on everyone about every little thing to try and come off as the ultimate employee. Men don’t do that even 1/4 as much. The males that do are usually flamers.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

I work in civil engineering so I frequently interact with construction contractors. I have a ton of respect for the guys that are good at those jobs. They work hard, make good money, and provide positive benefit to society. Not all are created equal, though. Most of the guys I've worked with have been great, but every once in a while, I get a lemon. Makes you appreciate the good ones all the more.

I could never be a full time tradie. Instead make me some sort of field engineer. 60/40 Outdoors/Office work. Different jobsites fixing things.

That's the things with trades, you REALLY are working.

Yeah, that would be ideal.

I get out maybe 10%. Wish it was more and spread out better. Seems like the field days come in bunches. Last week I was out doing fire flow tests for a water system. Of course, it had to be on a day where the high was 20 degrees with wind and snow.

that's what im trying to do

i kinda want my tradie chit on the side if its doable. i also like theater tradie work. it's a nice balance of that creative medium and technical side

it's fairly ironic you have a bodybuilding forum of people who lift (yea) that supposedly hate work and talk about its deleteriousness. i do think tradie is the lesser of two evils compared to office work

I use to work with the ultimate tradies via the military. And lemme tell ya - men can be just as bad or worse than women in regards to gossiping or making excuses.

At least in the private sector you can pick and choose which tradies you hire, which makes the difference.
