Work is so pointless

I make 100k/year but I don't do chit on the weekends. I live like I make 30k/year. I don't want to buy **** either. I am 27 and have done pretty much anything I want to do in life. I have no friends, no gf. Maybe if I had a gf the money would be nice but it's literally impossible to find a nice girl. Getting off work and sitting alone in my empty apartment is depressing af. I ****ing hate this ****. Wtf is the point of making all this money?

Know that feel. I did everything I wanted and lived an amazing life in my 20’s. Now I’m 35, got my house, my dream car, but no friends since I moved to another state, relationships seem like too much of a hassle. I like my alone time but getting up to go to work just to keep repeating the same thing till I’m an old fuk seems pointless. Pretty much every time I wake up in the morning my first thought is why the fuk did I have to wake up again....:

Groundhog day

Most days at work I just repeat the same tasks until the work is done and then I go sit at my desk and stare at my monitors

Used to just stare at walls or sit in the chitter

This is why it matters where you live.

I make 160k, live in NYC, and am NEVER bored.

Can’t imagine if I made that and lived in suburbia, yeah I’d be ****ing bored.

Hang out at Buffalo Wild Wings I guess or a bowling alley.

It's so true. When I first started working I cried every morning before work as it sank in that I would be repeating every day for the rest of my life. This is an endless nightmare.

It's hard for me to make friends so it doesn't matter where I live. Even if I lived in NYC I would be doing the same thing since I wouldn't have a gf/friends.

It's because this type of lifestyle is unnatural.

If you point it out people will get mad too and double down and say they enjoy it. (Cope)

Look around at the different people in society and see how many of them genuinely enjoy the lives they lead.
Very, very few.

sounds more like you have made your life pointless. if you don't have a job/career that interests you then you are simply doing that task for money (no shame, most do) but then you need to use that money towards your actual interests. girlfriends aren't an interest, they are human beings like you. if you have no interests/hobbies/goals then that's on you.

if your only goal in life is to have a girlfriend and you have excess amounts of money there are websites that can help with that and tourist trips that can intermittently quench that thirst but it most likely won't fill the void you have because to develop an actual relationship with another human being you can't be a miserable loser with no interests who just works and jerks.

I didn’t start crying until I had been working for a quarter of century. Used to not mind working either

I believe I can see the future
'Cause I repeat the same routine
I think I used to have a purpose
Then again, that might have been a dream
I think I used to have a voice
Now I never make a sound
I just do what I've been told
I really don't want them to come around
Oh no

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I can feel their eyes are watching
In case I lose myself again
Sometimes I think I'm happy here (Sometimes)
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started, oh
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
Well I'll hide it behind something
They won't look behind
I am still inside
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could've been any other way
But I just don't know, I don't know
What else I can do

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain (Every day)
Every day is exactly the same (Exactly the same, every day)
Every day is exactly the same (Every day)
Every day is exactly the same (There is no pain)
There is no love here and there is no pain (Every day)
Every day is exactly the same (Every day is the same)

Invest your money into something to give you an out then. I’ve gotten into property development and it’s kept me sane knowing I only need to do the office job a few more years

Pretty much exact situation but I make a little over 60k per year. I'd laugh if I couldn't relate. I want to travel to Europe more, buy a lambo, and a nice good-looking gal

Definitely a "first world problem" thing, but I can certainly relate. Even with a job that gives very good work life balance, and generally isn't that bad (though it can get really tedious and aggravating at times)...it can be hard to not get that hamster stuck on a wheel feeling.

Sounds like the problem isn't your job it's everything around it. Maybe put some effort into life outside work?
