I drove 2 hours south yesterday to purchase the frame (blue part) off a dude? (he/she/they/her/idk) from this Mtb website. I wasn't planning on getting anything new Mtb wise this winter but I saw it so I pulled the trigger. I was going to put the money into my Roth IRA but fuk it (I'll just put a lil bit in each month instead of lump sum).

I got into mountain biking about 6 years ago. it's been one of my best decisions. met some cool people, have something to do every weekend and it gives me purpose. best of all, I'm really fuking fast. I hope my misc people will find something this year they are good at (besides work).

this bike is built to go downhill fast but still be able to pedal back up. it has modern geometry. the fork is slacked out, the saddle has a steeper angle so it's efficient during climbing and it's low to the ground. my only gripe is I have a lot of pedal strikes (hitting rocks when I pedal). I'm sure I'll just get used to it as time goes on.

thanks brah. for sure it's a rewarding hobby. not easy to get out and pedal but the feels after the ride make it worth it,

it's definitely a expensive hobby to get started. do you live near a bike park? I'd love to have a dedicated downhill park bike but I only go 3-5 a season.

Is there a lockout on the rear shock ? Years ago I’ve always thought there should be a lever on the handlebar to lock the rear shock to make it easier to go up hills.
I believe there doing it now , but it took them forever to figure such a simple idea out
