Kneesovertoesguy (Ben Patrick) went on the Joe Rogan Podcast

This guy has gotten a lot of hype in the fitness scene over the last year. People have been raving about his training method. He apparently is getting more results than anyone.

Some strength and conditioning/exercise science guys don't like/got rubbed the wrong way by Ben because he's doing unconventional stuff and making claims that haven't been empirically verified. Not that he's wrong, just that what he's suggesting/saying hasn't been covered by the literature yet.

He's also a little salesy/bit of a marketer, but I can't fault him for that. That's just good business. Some of these other fitness dudes should take notes on how to sell a program.

At the end of the day, I like Ben. He understands that it's simply about results. Who cares if there aren't any studies yet to backup some of the things he does or says? His methods work, and they're scalable and accessible.

I will fault him for the things you pointed out - he'll seemingly pull numbers straight out if his ass and make pretty outlandish claims, but I've definitely gotten some value out of his ideas lately.

The reverse Norwegian leg curls have been pretty helpful for my knee (see user), and I've also been trying some of his tibialis stuff for my shin splints.

I do think he bull****s/exaggerates about his own athletic career/desires/injuries. He has managed to improve himself athletically to a considerable degree, but he's still a 6-1 white guy with short arms. He goes on about being a "world class athlete" but there's so much more to it than a 40" vertical.

Anyways, his methods are great and something different in an environment where people regurgitate the same information.

Guy has lots of good exercises and the theory behind everything makes sense, my knees and hips have never been stronger since I started doing them. Most physio's don't know jack **** from what theyre taught so his program is a refresher

Lots of guys like Mark bell are working with him now and developing more exercises

I bought a low end weight sled a few years ago for my home gym but just can't make it work in my yard. Love the idea of this and want to find a way to get back into it.

Not sure why OP used the word "results". Nothing the guy says will make you bigger. But it will stop your knees from being sore.

bought his program,
did his program,

i'm 35 years old and have literally lived my entire adult life with knee pain, such that I didn't even consider it an option to not have pain anymore.

went to physical therapy for atrophied legs for a year, didn't do sh*t.

This dude's program worked my sh*t very very very well.

I don't do regular gym workouts anymore. Squats and deads can lick my well worked ass*hole.

Do you or does anyone else have any experience with his program and shin issues? Getting over patellar tendonitis is my current priority, but after that, I'd like to try another stab at some shin issues that I've had for over a decade now.

bro f*cking do it.

1st off, the program is NOT expensive. 1 month subscription, you can ltierally just screenshot the program and memorize the movements and names of movements, start off with the no equipment version and put the work in.

We all go on and on about heavy squats and sh*t but who the f*ck is on here talking about doing tibialis raises?? no one! Tibialis raises are going to save your life from those shins man. I didn't think i could see a muscle on the front of my shin, but i can!! it's crazy

Heh, you make a compelling argument, but I'm really looking to hear any of stories of how this has helped shin splints (cus my have been really resistant to rehab).

Do you find the programming useful? My other doubt is that I already know (I think?) which exercises he recommends, and I have enough experience programming my training, so what's the value I'd be getting from the program?

He puts enough info out there for free where you can add in what you want as you see fit.

Snake oil salesman was my thought exactly hearing him, but I do like him still after further viewing.

I gladly recommend him to friends with knee/other leg injuries because I think he has a lot of really good ideas, and his exercise recommendations can be much more athlete-oriented than most PT programming, which is often, for lack of better words, some pussy chit.

My one gripe as I said above is some of his claims. The one that stays in my head is, "yeah, I've been doing weighted tiabilis raises for about 6 months now, and I can do 25% of my bodyweight for X reps, so I figure 30% is world-class level." You fukking wot m8? You've only been doing this chit for 6 months with n=1, and saying X percent of BW guarantees "world-class" is pretty retarded. I think some of it kinda comes down to him not really being a strength training guy but more of a practical athletic guy though.
