I just typed the last word of my PhD thesis. Ask me anything.

Just typed the last word of the thesis, and reached the absolute upper bound of my word limit (100k).


Of course, there will still be edits, revisions, emendations, minor rewrites, polishing and minor additions to do, but the research and argumentation is done and for the most part, this is over.

You should only call medical doctors "Doctor" while they are are on the the job. Other than that you are just "Bill" or "Susan" or whatever? Or... Dr.Who. You can call him Doctor. If you aren't a medical doctor you shouldn't be getting called "Doctor" by anyone unless you are in a deep academic setting.

I say just tough it out and focus on getting the good marks for entry to a good post-graduate program. That can either be something lucrative like med, or just a path to post-graduate research like what I did (went to law school for a day and it bored me to tears.)

Post-graduate research is where you can really be free of all that chit and literally design your own degree since it is your own contribution to knowledge. Of course, I can't lie here: You'll be free of all that chit but academia and grad school will plop a whole new load of chit in your lap. I love research, but the bureacracy and publish-or-perish syndrome, coupled with the general arrogance and poor social skills of those attracted to the profession is at times insufferable.
