Do people still get the OG covid?

The news is so fukin retarded.

OG covid was wiping out the planet 6 months ago (not srs)... then Delta variant came along and OG disappeared. Now omin****ish variant is here and everyone has the sniffles... but wtf happened to OG covid? I'm asking misc because obviously the news is retarded. Can't get a good answer off duckduckgo as well. I also just left a birthday party and had 5 beers.
