What was your longest non-ban MISC hiatus, and why did you go away when you did?

Curious why people leave and come back..

Been here over a decade now. A couple years into being a miscer I got a new job where the firewall blocked misc, so really could only do so my cell. Lead to a long multiple year period of only lurking occasionally, followed by daily lurking, and ultimately coming back to posting a few years ago. /diary

I had very low to no activity from 2008ish to 2013. I took another break at around 2013 to 2017. I wish I could remember my first username.

Stopped coming here from like 2013 to 2018 when misc was all "forever alone" nonsense. It changed into incels but wasn't as bad, and people learned to start actively mocking the ****hots posting the dumb chit.

I don't remember, but likely several years. There's also probably been quite a few years where I came here very sparingly. For a very long time the OtherGround (mixedmartialarts.com, although it's been through several other URLs/Domains previously) was the primary forum I went too and my visits to Misc were pretty infrequent. At some point that changed.

Now I've been "working" from home the last couple years, and spend way too much time here.

From 2016-2020 I barely posted, just popped in every now and then to lurk. Then Covid hit and I’ve been glued to this dying gay Indian fitness board ever since. 70% of my posts and most of my rep power have been since the beginning of 2020 srs.

I got perma banned around 2018 I think? Maybe 2017. The Butthurt Mods era where they banned anyone who said "****got". Since I couldn't post I didn't even bother coming back but I was on a Discord with my fellow Miscrs.

Then a year or two ago a mod made a perma banned forgiveness thread for Christmas. Someone brought me up and I was resurrected.

same here. I had actually successfully quit the misc and wasn't planning to return, but the pandemic fukked that plan right in the angus.

When I first stumbled onto the misc I posted whatever I wanted because I saw that responses could be edited or deleted. What I didn't know was that that only lasts 24 hours. So then when I started thinking, oh isht, I don't want my love interest to know I'm a miscer, I tried to go back and nuke my history, I even frantically emailed the mods. Lol. Then I realized I didn't actually say anything bad and none of this was a big deal and that the chances of him actually reading this garbage are slim to none. Sorry to hear about your co-workers throwing a fit. bummer.

Between June 2012 and mid 2014 I only checked the 'Forever Alone crew' thread (EOD, damlurker and I are the only users still active on the misc) now. That thread had been moved to the relationship help section by the mods.

Between mid 2014 and late 2018 I didn't really misc at all, other than the odd update in one of the 'no-fap' threads.

I was a lurker or rare user my first few years until one of my other favorite forums basically collapsed. That forum is still around but its garbage. they started off with banning all pics, you couldnt upload/link/use any pics in any threads all of a sudden and they shut down their equivalent of the misc general chat area. The users started making other forums on their own and promoting them so I said fuk it this place sucks and was linking others to the new site and got perm'd for promoting their rival.

Didn't even enter the misc until many years later, once the supp section died off.

Then again, I rarely post anyway... mostly lurk for the lol's

This is my 4th misc UN.

I started here back in sophomore yr of high school around 2004/2005.

A lot of life events happen between ages 16-33 so I've gone through many phases.

There have been times where I'd misc all day/erryday and times where I'd be caught up with the world in front of me and forget about this place.

To be brutally honest....in the wake of snails, I just got done talking with my counselor about this place. Trying to describe the misc to him was very, very difficult.
