Much smarter to buy both precious metals and ammo. Ammo is more useful for getting what you need anyway.

What is ammo going to do for you if SHTF? The ones that control the Gold and Silver supply can pay for armies, personal protection, food, etc. This is the way it's been for thousands of years...
