Fuq Home Depot (dear misc)

Ordered a new fridge from them last week and it was scheduled to deliver 2/17, I took the day off since they could only give me a 4 hour window for the delivery. Yesterday they show up,unbox the fridge and the entire corner is collapsed in. It wasn't just a nick or small dent, I could see some the insulation from the busted corner, no biggie I understand schit happens. I rejected the shipment, they said they called it in and that HD will reach out with a new delivery date.

Later that night I get a call from the HD robo caller saying that I have a delivery for 2/18 between 8a and 12. So again, stayed home from work for the delivery. The delivery guys show up and were like "we don't have a new fridge, we were just going to pick up the old one," so they left. So after i've unloaded/loaded my busted fridge twice now, I still dont have my new fridge.

I call up HD and the next date they can give me is approx. 3/14 and that they are not even sure when they will have a firm date for me. So at this point i'm just looking elsewhere for a fuqin fridge but god damn, what a gigantic waste of my time. Luckily this happened early enough today for me to cancel my PTO today and just wfh instead, but I still roasted a day yesterday and I still have a fridge that barely works. I think the lesson here is to just pickup/move the damn thing yourself. /end rant.

It's not encouraging when a major retailer can't even deliver a basic appliance these days and customer service everywhere is non existent.

I know that feels Op.

They try to give out those dented units to people and eventually someone agrees and they luck out getting it out of inventory. I rejected a dented oven as well, next order came perfect brand new

Yep. I'm lucky enough to where I have a few local appliance shops that can deliver something like a new refrigerator same day or next day. Of course you gotta pay extra, but always worth it

This.

Home Depot and Lowe's are for people who can handle chit themselves. If you want pro delivery and installation services you have to pay a pro shop to do it.

Yeah I ordered about 600 sqft of wood flooring from them, along with the accompanying small things you need like silicone sealant and quarter round. They called me to tell me they're dropping it off between 8am and 1pm a couple weeks later so I cancelled an appointment I had to hang out and wait. Guy pulls up in a giant box truck to drop off one box of silicone sealant and half the quarter round I needed. That's it. Had to hound them for weeks to get the rest of my stuff.

Who the hell needs professional installation services for a fridge? Its a box that plugs into your wall and has a water line.

My gut was telling me that this might be the case, they get someone to accept it without looking or too timid to bring it up. Scummy practice.

seems that way.

Yeah this has been 30 years in the making in terms of designed obsolescence as well. Consumers wanted more features while it remains "cheap". A fridge now is not expected to last more than 10 years where as fridges made 30 years ago (and older) are still choochin in peoples basements. Wouldnt be surprised if they start a subscription service to access your cheese draw.

why did you take PTO to get a fridge delivered when you can just work from home?

They aren't installing chit lmao , I need to put the water line in but I wouldn't trust HD to do it. I just needed a grunt to hump the new fridge to the kitchen and take the old fridge out. No rocket science here, appliance hand truck and some moving blankets. I just got done moving a few weeks ago and didnt feel like grunting it myself.

Lol @ tradies not giving a fuk about your fridge and damaging it hoping you wouldn’t notice

But who gives a F. Home Depot mostly cares about reaching their quarterly guidance and increasing earnings per share

my gf brother is a builder and his wife is an interior decorator

1. he said 12 months to get many high end appliances to a new home
2. she said it used to take 4-8 weeks for a couch now 10 months.

Had shopped at HD for my house and my rental for YEARS, but after they gave money to BLM terrorists I haven't stepped foot in there.
