Steak subscriptions **Meat gazers welcome**

Any yall subscribe to periodic meat deliveries like Omaha Steaks or Butcher Box?

Where I live access to large amounts of meat, especially beef steaks, is kinda sparse without needing to shop a few times a week
While it's not a major hassle, I was curious if anyone had good/bad reviews for some kind of weekly/monthly delivery of steaks

I do have access to just about all the wild game and fish I could ever want, but this essentially takes all my freezer real estate to store properly
So while I'd love to just butcher a steer when needed, I really have nowhere to keep that much at one time either, so had been curious if the subscriptions services were worth the squeeze?

I’d get another freezer and find a local farmer and buy in bulk. I bought all the steaks from 3 cows earlier this year. It’s high quality and the freezer pays for itself in no time. You’re also supporting someone local. Have you broken down the price per lb for Omaha? It’s ridiculous

Used to do that on the east coast and yes it was a great convenience. Now I pick out and name my cow and then come back later to pick up my meat.

I ordered Omaha as a one-off in December and it took over a week to get to me and it was not frozen. They replaced it with a new shipment and I kept the steaks and tossed the chicken and burgers from the first box. It's OK. If it is hard to get meat, probably not a terrible idea.

BTW: Meat gazers welcome, but not catered to wtf.

This x 100.

I've looked into just about every option and finding a local farm that you can purchase a 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 cow will likely be 50% of the cost of Omaha or Butcher Box. I did the match before and I believe they come out to $10-12 a pound, while getting a cow from a farm is usually $4-7/lb depending on the place you go.

this is the first thread about meat that hasn't been about gay sex in a long time. I'm just happy to bask in the masculinity.

Get another freezer

Subscriptions of any kind are pretty much the lazy paying 2x the cost of regular things to show up at their door

These are kinda things i was most curious about because ya on the surface the prices seemed ridiculous but thought maybe there was something I was missing
Also wondered if Omaha steaks/Butcher Box were simply the Guccis and if there were more reasonable options?

This is what we have done in the past and appears to still be our best option
My only complaints have been getting parts/cuts we don't care for like soup bones, tail, tongue etc but still have to store and somehow put to use

Really have never looked at the options less than a whole beef like 1/2, 1/4 so might explore that instead

What i was kinda hoping to find, and maybe i still will, is somewhere i could just order like 30 ribeyes, or a dozen KC strips plus a dozen sirloins delivered to me every month
Something easily customizable until I was dialed in to exactly what we want

Understandably i get that it would be substantially more per pound, but time and grocery real estate is money too

I agree with not wanting all parts/cuts. Some farmers are more accommodating because they still have a market for it. Similar to selling only the steaks to a restaurant at a wholesale price. I bought just the steaks from 3 cows..strips, tenderloins, ribeyes, porterhouse, t bone, and sirloin.

I've been looking for the exact same thing, but haven't found anything with a good price point. Everyone I've looked at is at least $10/lb. I really liked the Butcher Box idea, but it does not give enough meat for the price for someone like me. I eat 1.5-2lbs of meat a day. So 1 of their bigger boxes would last like 1.5-2 weeks for me and I think it was about $260 dollars.

Where I get my cow you can tell them what cuts you want or don’t want.

But I went to this store when I was in Florida and it’s amazing. Everything is immediately frozen but the steaks were phenomenal. $29 a year gets you free delivery and some other perks.
