P320’s are garbage. Lots of reports of them firing while in a holster, mostly from PD’s. I’m pretty sure at least one incident was caught on a bodycam.

I wouldn’t take one of them for free. SIG was a great company that used to make extremely high quality guns. They have really fallen from grace, and are still trying to ride their previous reputation from years past. Most of the stuff they make now is junk.

I have a couple of the classic P-series guns, German made from their heyday (P229, P220) and it’s night and day quality wise compared to what they put out now.

My S&W Sigma throwaway piece is better quality than a P320 or P365, and it only cost $200. You want a a laugh, read about the Sigmas (smegmas). It’s actually a better pistol than what Sig puts out now though.

Firing in a holster or fired while reholstering?

Fired IN the holster just from being banged around in a scuffle or the like. I’ll see if I can find a link.

The early ones weren’t drop safe either. If dropped at certain angles where the slide was impacted it would go off. The Army figured that out the hard way when they adopted the M17, which was obviously a huge mistake

Amazes me nowadays how many guns look like plastic toy ones. Back in my childhood they looked like proper guns from the wild west.

Yea Glock is the way to go. When they first came out there were lots of reported instances of them supposedly just “going off” too, but what was discovered was that police officers and other people who carried were used to double action revolver triggers which were most common at the time, and were a accidentally discharging the Glock because the trigger was so light compared to a 10-12 lb DA revolver pull. This was quickly remedied by training.

Glock even came out with spring upgrades, the most notable being used by the NYPD called the “NY1” trigger spring, which raised the pull weight from the stock 5.5lb to 8lb or more. The idea was that even unsafe handling (finger on the trigger when it shouldn’t be) was less likely to result in an AD. I bought a PD trade in that had the “retard spring” in it to keep Barney from accidentally shooting his dog while showing the gun to his wife. I took it out.

Glocks don’t and never did, however, discharge in a holster without the trigger being pulled.

That's too bad about Sigs. The Misc always seems to prefer Glocks.
