Wouldn’t that imply people with more skill have more say in government decisions? No, that’s not the case in USA. At least, not directly. However, people with more skill will likely amass more wealth, which they could use to influence the public and thus the government.

If a retard like Lebron James can become a billionaire, anybody can (assuming you're genetically gifted with freakish athletic talent and 6'8'' tall).

It is in the sense you're referring to OP. Only pseudoscientific anti-racists reject the idea of meritocracy because it justifies their belief in affirmative action. If meritocracy didn't exist then high school and college would be pointless, and all the data suggests the opposite
Anti-racist marxist professors reject the idea of meritocracy because such an idea is considered 'white' and serves as an obstacle to the discrimination they want to impose on white people.

Not when Biden's crackhead son can get millions for a no-show job in Ukraine under Zelansky regime. Nepotism and pay for play are the rules of the game.

CRTers do this by brainwashing ignorant white people into rejecting meritocracy as something that can't be possible in a country as racist as USA, a country that elected Barack Obama. When you bring up this point, anti-racists will respond with something like 'Well, Obama upheld the status quo' or 'So? The election of Donald Trump proves this is still a racist country.'elaborate on this? I wonder how realistic it is to create a self sustaining economy in a community
Here is an illegal example of Critical Race Theory in practice, perpetuated by the highest office in the land. This is why far leftists hate the constitution--the anti-discrimination clause of the 14th amendment prevents them from discriminating against white people in the way they would like. The end goal of CRT is Jim Crow style discrimination against white people on every single level, regardless of class.
They believe if they can convince enough white people into believing their marxist filth, white people will literally allow themselves to be discriminated against.

Used to be; but lately meritocracy is seen as something racist and exclusionary and thus it's being removed as the basis for choosing the best and the brightest.
