Changing jobs...anyone know these feelz? [Tradie]

Current job-cake 40 hours, kick ass schedule, 3 weeks vacation, zero stress, paid to commute.

Current offer-chit schedule, 1 week vacation, tons of career opportunities, $10-20k more per year.

I couldn't ask for a better boss and work situation, but hell I couldn't ask for a better offer being I have basically zero experience. I'm tempted to ask my boss for an even better schedule and fast track my qualifications for more money, but even then I'd still be missing out on career opportunities and lagging in pay by a significant amount. Feels kinda scummy to walk out when I had quite a few people pulling for me to get into my current position....and then leave three months later. /dear diary....

Is the quality of live better for 10-20k? You going to gain with the money from what you miss out from currently having? What if you get a terrible boss? Not worth it IMO, use it to try and move up wherever you are at.

Ah zero room to grow sounds like. Well quality of life will be better at the 2nd one then man. adding 1/3 of your entire income as starting pay. The 8 hours built in OT will be hell though.

It will be hell, but I've been there done that for years anyway. Company #2 appears to be one of the better ones and have been pretty damn good about being open about stuff. Hell if I don't like it, 2 years down the road I'll have that much more experience. Job seeker's market right now for growth, might not be that way for long.

I can do whatever the **** I want as a tradie though

Tell HR to get ****ed

Ignore vax and covid guidelines

Make traffic stop for me in busy DT area and cuss people out in company attire

Cons are I’m absolutely ****ing miserable some days , that’s really due to the ****ty contractors out of my union hall though

I’m thinking about something like realtor or mortgage broker DFS

Lol @ cucking people out of extra money they don’t need to spend buying a house and making 200k+

You are an idiot if you trade an easy schedule, 2 less weeks of vacation, paid commute, and no stress for a measly 10-20k holy fuk. That isn't even including the built in 8 hrs of OT you will be doing too from a lower post jesus you idiot. You are planning on working an extra 500 hours... no thanks jeffe

Depends on OP's age tbh. The hustle going from like $9/hr to $40k+ gross is hard and intentional for most people, after that though the salary gains just keep getting better and better if you're in a hot industry and/or willing to increase responsibilities/manage.

Based on the fact you're at a dead end and wouldn't benefit from more tenureship there, yeah going up 44% in pay is worth it tbh, definitely do it. You can always go back to your old job if you really regret it, right? Don't burn bridges.

Makes a difference what your salary is. I agree with ya if I was making 100k and looking at 120k. That 20k would be play money. Going from 50k to 70k brings legitimate quality of life gains though. Also I don't have a house yet and started my career goals somewhat late.

I have to say I'm legitimately surprised the perks here make that much of a difference for some of you when they don't actually translate into more annual pay, especially considering inflation and the wayge not being CEO 10K a day lol. I figured misc to be more career maxxers. Guys having me think twice.

What I've learned in my working career from the moment I turned 15 until now, age 33, is that changing jobs for money isn't worth it sometimes. Have to weigh all the factors. I wouldn't move from my current positions because I've got it easy as fuk as far as dress code, only having a 10 min commute, 4 day work week, leave early whenever I feel like it, etc. Walking into a new place for even 10k more wouldn't be worth it SRS. Then again I make almost 115k so might be a little different than your situation. I did move from gig to gig to climb the ladder over the years but am finally more than comfortable.

In your situation, the job opportunity part might make it worth dealing with in the short term. Slap that BS on your resume and move along. Unless you're comfortable with your pay as it stands. I've worked sht jobs just to spice up the resume while waiting for better opportunities to come and coom they did

Well goddam I made decision making process harder lol. Apparently they have first shift available that's not listed and I've been offered. Straight 40 hours, 4x10 schedule with 3 days off. Crazy thing is it's a rotating schedule that's basically 8 days on 6 days off. I'm down for that. Pay ends up being quite a bit lower with the elimination of OT. This basically boils down to opportunity for me now.

OP, I don't know you at all, but I think you should hang tight. Seems like you have a really nice gig right now that isn't worth giving up the perks for the possibility of "opportunity". Remember, opportunities aren't guaranteed. Could be a bunch of chit coming out of your recruiter's mouth just to get you to leave your current gig.
