Good oldschool Horror movies

There's lots of new horror movies these days, but it's filled with CGI which is okay, but there' something about the old horror movies from the 70's, 80's where they have to create the scary parts with music or by suspepense/psychological. I know most of the popular ones but are there any hidden gems yall know about that are good?

I recently watched "Sleepaway Camp" 1,2,3 and they were like a knockoff of Friday the 13th but maybe even better.

They can't make movies like that or Ace Ventura Pet Detective anymore. They're would be boycotts and stuff.
I really liked "Dead and Buried" when I was a kid, but I'd probably figure it out too quickly if I were to watch it for the fist time today.

Practical effects of fuking peace.
*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

lol, I used to like watching all those syfy flicks from like 2007-2016 because they were cheezy and funny, not scary tho, def not real horror movies.

Newer movies are too "polished" or something. I like the grittiness of the old school shyt.. same with hip hop I like the grimy 90's sound and not the modern stuff it sounds too perfect or electronic

Hmmm.....

Not sure if this is a hidden gem but Dead Alive is a great horror splat comedy. I'm not sure how mainstream it is, but it's one of Peter Jackson's early films. The baby scene in the park will live on as one of the greatest things ever put on screen.

The Thing: Because I still haven't seen practical effects as awesome and grotesque as what was in this film.



Event Horizon, too. Scared the chit out of me when I first saw it, great concept. That Hell isn't down, but it's sideways.

Dead Alive is defo lesser known, something of an indie-movie cult classic amongst gorehounds.

Duly noted. In that case I recommend The Sentinel from 1976, directed by Michael Winner, same guy who did the Death Wish movies. Very unsettling when I first saw it.

Wes Craven's early films don't get as much attention as everything after Nightmare on Elm Street, but Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes are worth a watch.

Also, look for the stuff Roger Corman produced in the 70s and 80s.
