Putting my two weeks in to work today. I think I am in a midlife crisis srs
Been working at Costco for like 15 years.
I'm just tired of it. Tired of having a job and not a career. Tired of bitter ass losers being my bosses and micro managing me into hell. Tired of working for people who don't have souls.
I flipped put on my supervisor and called her a retarded scumbag and got in a bunch of trouble lol. She was demanding me to take my lunch at 230, I literally always take it at 3 every day for years. Never had an issue. I had forgotten my wallet so I told her I needed to wait til 3 so my gf can drop off lunch and my wallet, that's when I told her to come since I always take my break then. This bitch says no that's too bad. Lost my **** and told her to **** off, got written up for insubordination. They wanted to suspend me but I weaseled out of it naturally by calling corporate.
This plus a myriad of other petty things, it's obvious the new manager is just making it hell for everyone.
Saved some money. Gunna take some time off and go back to school. I'm 34 this summer. I ain't going to live the rest of my working life under the boots of complete idiots who have the power to take out their random anger on lower level employees.
I have no idea what I want to do with my life now. Not sure what kind of career to persue.
Is this a midlife crisis?

No, you've just been delaying adulthood for 16 years
34 is getting to the point where its a little harder to learn but easier to apply what you know consistently. We change as we get older. I'd maybe look into running a business or a trade.

No hate, but it's a bit odd that moving up your lunch by 30 minutes would set you off that hard. Did you consider asking why they wanted you to go early? Asking if you could go later instead because of the wallet thing? Asking for a short term loan [like until tomorrow] so you could buy lunch at 2:30?
I'm sure it has been an ongoing thing that has built up your anger.
Just saying shifting lunch a half hour isn't a big deal. I know I'm an outlier though- I liked working 6 hours before lunch so that after felt like cake. Would rather late lunch than early unless I'm just having a hungry day for some reason.

It's likely repressed anger. I know about the type of job OP works.
It's the feeling that you have no control that turns into burnout and frustration.
When you've been quietly angry for a long time, even the smallest things can set it off.

Sounds like she really showed you who's the boss.
Lol at getting you to quit a job you've been working for 15 years so easy. She'll probably hire her 16yo nephew tomorrow to replace you.

It's a place where someone above you can, just take out their ****ty day on you. The fact thay some loser supervisor can nearly get me fired for insubordination cause I said no I'm going on my lunch at 3 like usual cause I need to wait for food is crazy to me.
I mean yeah I've worked a lame job but I haven't really delayed adulthood, I own 2 paid off cars and will have my house paid off within the next year and a half. I'm lucky enough to be in a position financially where I can take 6 months or a year off to focus on school.
I recently dropped to part time to do school on the side but it's not worth the extra stress at this point.
The new manager doesn't let us wear hoodies outside to push carts when it's the middle of winter. That should give you an idea of what it's like.

Sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do. I get it, a job like costco, although pretty good for what it is, gets old. Although 15 years, why aren't you management? You need to step back and notice your approach and mindset for your career or you'll just get stuck in your next place of work. You need to try to learn things and expand and move up.
For a long time I used to work at these Goodyear tire shops and for the most part was just General Service and Maintenance Mechanic. It was easy because I had my set responsibilities but I didn't have to do any of the complex crap. I was damn good too. Everything got done right, done quickly, no problems. I can make anything drive straight when I do an alignment. Got burned out of it thnking "is this it" and made the decision to move up. I had to realize and accept that there was so much I didn't know and I needed to learn a lot. I really put my mind to it. Went through a lot often wondering why I was even trying. Now I'm a lead technician. Not going to say it is or was easy, but you just need to accept that you are ready to get better.

You’ve fcked up but at least you realise it now.
I’d probably start a gardening business or something like that.
Cheap start up costs. Lots of cash payments.
Depends on the area you live in.

- be a supervisor, work a crap schedule with random days off every week, eat **** all day and have a ton of responsibility - 29.00/hr
-push carts, have seniority, have a set schedule with set days off that never changes, walk around and listen to audio books in the fresh air and help old ladies load water - 27.50/hr
You have to suck infinite dicks to become management, it's all a clique of losers. If you aren't part of the group of losers doing employee club events and hanging out at Applebee's after work then youre out.

I'd try to minimize the time you spend off work. No offence, your savings can't be that much from working at Costco. Remember you'll need 7 figures to retire (if that's a goal).
Look at the next 5 years in layers.. First you'll need to get a stable, flexible job to cover your baseline expenses. Say 25-30hrs/week, then start looking into a longer term career that requires schooling. Take night classes or online for 20hrs/week, while also maintaining your current responsibilities.
Or, you could just hop into a trade and get paid to learn for four years until you're a journeyman. Plumber is probably the safest bet, as they are a bit of jack of all trades. They do HVAC, new construction, commercial, residential, maintenance. Lots of decent paying work for journeyman plumbers. Plus it's a easier to start your own business in a city as a plumber than as say an Oilfield rig hand, pipe fitter or welder.

They want us to go every two hours but it's pretty universally known that we go closer to 3 hours. No one ever cares or says anything. I've gone at the same time for like 5 years. Thay day everyone went late, but only I got chased down to go on time. The next day I went to go on the time they scheduled like a good boy, and the guy on earlier shift goes late at the same time as me. No one says shiiiiitt to him.
It's a place where someone above you can, just take out their ****ty day on you. The fact thay some loser supervisor can nearly get me fired for insubordination cause I said no I'm going on my lunch at 3 like usual cause I need to wait for food is crazy to me.

There is a normal level of annoying for that where supervisors have to wrangle employees to maintain coverage [person tied up w/customer or project and goes late, another person goes on time, third person goes early 'cause they wanted to go eat with their friend = no coverage] and then there is the petty butt riding making your work day hell stuff which I've been on the receiving end of.
My personal fave when I was working on the floor and could do my own thing was 3 hours/break/3 hours/lunch/2 hours/leave. Break was about 15 minutes on the clock. In theory you were supposed to have 2 breaks and a lunch on an 8 hour shift but that almost never happens unless it is off season/super slow/no big projects.

I recently dropped to part time to do school on the side but it's not worth the extra stress at this point.
The new manager doesn't let us wear hoodies outside to push carts when it's the middle of winter. That should give you an idea of what it's like.

Glad you've got your finances in a good place. I found the options in this video very interesting. I need to take the time to rewatch it and read more about the specific ideas that might work for me.
I can write including business writing which I did a lot of in one of my last executive admin jobs. Wrote communication and training materials.
I find I make a lot of really dumb mistakes now, but I see them when I read back through at least. IDK it's like my wires are crossed...and for an, their for there, etc. I've found myself out of the house driving after writing something and thinking "oh jeez, did I write X instead of Y?".
