Religion is a concept that is valued by both idiots and intellectuals

...but not by pseudo-intellectuals. Normie atheists who grab at low-hanging fruit.

I just received a 'neg' from a poster.
you really think being religious is ignorant but being on tiktoks is not? LMFAOOO loser
I think he misinterpreted me. I think this quote and this meme clarifies my stance on religion.
As Joseph Campbell, the great scholar of mythology and religion said, “God is a metaphor for that which transcends all levels of intellectual thought. It’s as simple as that.”

Being petrified by your own mortality is not related to intelligence in any way. Both inbred trailer trash and top scholars can be terrified at the thought of ceasing to exist. Religion is a pathway to immortality...religious people merely want to live forever. Religion and the notion of a god who will provide eternal existence as a reward for faithful service will be very attractive to those who are unable or too afraid to come to grips with the fact their lives will simply end one day and they will just cease to exist from that day forward as their bodies decompose.

It's not only about God. Being religious automatically makes you a part of a community, and helps with bonding with others.

Which low IQ and high IQ individuals understand: the utility of religion. Less important are the stories about miracles being performed, more important is the gathering of people, and the principles being established within oneself. Such as compassion, forgiveness, etc...

These threads always bring out the misc edgelords who always miss these points. I've never been super religious and only ever went to church sparsely growing up. A couple of months ago I started attending almost weekly and more and more I find myself actually WANTING to go. You start to look forward to seeing these people. The main pastor who does most of the masses is a humble man and a great speaker and there always seems to be some nuggets of wisdom or insights to be gained from that small investment of time.

And for everyone who thinks religion is dead, that's not been my experience. Church is always packed and you need to get there early to get a parking spot. People of all ages and backgrounds too. Perhaps the biggest thing is you always seem to be walking out in a better mood than how you came in.

Consumerism, hedonism, materialism has made society far more atomized. In the past, church was the main thing that brought people from their town together. You're far less likely to be a general dick to someone (who say cuts you off in traffic) if there's a chance you know them or might run into them at church. As a result people were generally better towards each other.

If that was the only thing it accomplished it would be worth it.
