Whats your opinion on it?

*Lets assume the person is not a try hard ****... he/she learnt to write that way and it is "natural" to him/her.

Was born in 1997... they teached me it in school.


My dad (born in the 60s) has the most beautiful crusive writing Ive ever seen.

cursive was developed because of the fountain pen - and if you use a fountain pen, you'll see why. But it is a PITA with a ball point pen, so I print. and in all caps

Was taught to write in cursive up to 6th grade so I can do both but typically print.

We were taught to write cursive in elementary school, and graded on penmanship. Not even sure if thats a thing anymore, as my 17 and 14 year old sons dont write in cursive at all. My own writing tends to be a combo of cursive and print.

I am also an engineer, and old enough where we had drafting classes prior to Cad, so I tend to be rather anal about when I see folks with sloppy penmanship. Literally drives me nuts with the reports my staff turn in to me when they can manually write anything legible.

Good penmanship is appreciated and respected, being sloppy is just lazy and I judge accordingly.

I've never heard of anyone referring to any writing style as try hard. But cursive is aesthetic and good handwriting is a respectable trait.

Like I said, I learnt it in the early 2000s, but if I had to guess I would say they don't teach it anymore.
