Also "This" to the above post. I've worked many 50-60hr weeks and literally hate my life. I average 45ish/week and sometimes feel that's too much.

Would probably work 80 hours a week because I don’t do much outside of work anyway. Although if that counts as 40 hours of OT, then prob not because Uncle Sam taxes the chit out of it.

That’s not how it works in any profession I know about. Maybe an ER doctor or something with insane shifts, but places that want 80 hours a week don’t give you weekends.

Did 70 hrs a week before I had wife and kids and was young, now 40 hours hands down. Even though still do like 50-55.

80 is too much, would get burned out.

i often now have to work saturdays and also once a month sunday, that is like 3 days off a month, i fuking hate it. if you cant manage your money with 250k a year then you have problems. 80hrs weeks isnt sustainable long term. unless you live at work but then only for a few months.

Hi RLA!

40 hours a week to make 250K. That's the route I took as a Mom over taking a FTE role to work 60-80 hour weeks. I did that and I was sick most of the time, exhausted, never saw my family, didn't work out and I was miserable. Then you spend your extra money on Instacart and other conveniences because you have no time for grocery shopping or cooking.

No amount of money can buy back time. Working 80 hours a week sounds awful, and no financial compensation could make up for that misery.

Can get really far ahead though if you do it short term, control costs, and save/invest

Play your cards right and you could pull your retirement age far to the left if that’s your goal, or achieve any number of other things
