Elden ring is a bad soulsborne game

horse simulator is a more apt name

brb acres upon acres of desolate barren wasteland with fukk all to do in it - and the things which matters most in these games (boss fights) are replaced with cheap gimmick fights who 1 shot you

Well that's basically most soulsborne games. They never have much in the way of an immersive game world, they aren't Elder Scrolls titles by any stretch, pretty much the complete opposite. They always focus on gameplay above all.

The fans tend to take pride in how cheap and difficult the games can be, they're the type of people who love to grind away at games.

I think of them the same way I think of some classic action games like Contra and Battle Toads. They seem to appeal to the same type of gamer, the kind of that loves a hardcore gaming challenge where you gotta lose constantly and slowly progress through memorization and quick reflexes.

I would never buy it or play it even with all the hype and perfect reviews, it's just not my type of genre. I tried several times with critically acclaimed games.

Maybe the case with you OP, unless you play the **** out of other RPG's

The 2nd half of the first game was objectively the worst Soulsbourne experience to date.

Agree on the 1st half being GOAT though.

Honestly that's pretty much how it is with a lot of "critically acclaimed" video games these days. Gaming media has become a real cultish bubble, a lot of chit gets pushed around as being really popular that can be surprisingly niche.

They really need to turn the damage on bosses and NPCs down, its stupid when I get ran down by a spammy attack thats unavoidable and does 75% of my health as damage

And the fukkin stupidass delayed swing where they just hold their weapon and swing right when you're in between rolls

Also the beginning of the game sucks because there are almost no weapons or armor

I made it through the game in about 70 hours, but its nowhere as good as the other games

Also I'm realizing the lore kinda sucks ass too, no connection between things

They need to buff the damage on incantations too

Hated these games until I actually sat down and dedicated myself to learning how to play them. Now Bloodborne is one of my favourite games, although it's still super frustrating most of the time. Sekiro can eat a dick though, that game is freaking insanely hard.

Nah it's amazing. If you don't want to explore just go online and get a map that list the location of all 165 bosses. Obviously dont' fight all of them, but pick a few and explore the area and dungeons. There's tons of lore that is hidden with clues in the game. Soulbornes have never spoonfed the user the lore. You had to work for it.

Feels bad that games have lost their magic for me.

I'm huge fan of soulsborne but I just cant sit down and devote dozens of hours to gaming anymore, I would have preordered if I could, the game looks awesome.

haven't played any souls games before but thought it was amazing

it isn't that difficult, at first it is just getting used to it but once you get the hang of it and level up you're coasting

the world/exploring is what makes the game so good imo, so it doesn't have much replay value but took me 150 hours to complete everything on first go. that's pretty good value for 60 bucks

the story was chit though, i'll give you that

Reuse of bosses and dungeons gets annoying, but invading other people is stupidly fun. I think the only thing they could've done to make it better is actually make it smaller as they didn't have the content to fill it all out. Overall on par with DS3 for me albeit with soundtracks that aren't as good

And it still one of the least repetitive RPG ever. Compare this to any Ubisoft game like assassins creed, far cry, ect… even a great game like the Witcher is ten times more repetitive.
