Everything is back ordered....tradie life, dear diary
I work maintaining and fixing soda fountains and related stuff....and half of my parts are on back order. This crap isn't uncommon, but it's getting insane now. The most basic parts have been out for weeks. It's been bad for months, but now it's getting really bad. Our weekly meeting brought up how to locally source from other techs LMAO, brb let's cannibalize each other's trucks....when none of us have jack sheit.
Fuk me it's getting stressful. Should have jumped ship when I had the chance.

Stuff that took a week to get now takes 3 months, followed by a call at the third month saying gives us two more weeks. Most customers get it because they are in the mix, but some don't get it and its a hard sell to tell someone its going to be 4 months for a basic part.
All because China is going "covid zero"? After everything we all know as a world about this thing, 2.5 years in and they are shooting for "zero cases" lmaowut? They are trolling us. They country with the longest exposure to this thing has the worst policy 2.5 years later...hard to believe. Somethingaintright.gif.

I signed the order for a specialty fleet vehicle in April of โ21 but it has yet to be delivered. Sadly, I expect this to worsen.

he doesn't even bother trying to get parts from manufacturers and just goes to the local parts place and buys whatever part has the same specs and makes it fit.

Now I am having to call customers to tell them that the freight I quoted 4 months ago has gone up $900.00 (or whatever) and they have to pay the difference before I can ship their order.
