Pregnancy hormones are no joke

Went to a local restaurant with pregnant wife the other day. The food is great, but the prices are insane. We ended up getting 1 order of french toast and 2 drinks. The total came to $54. If that wasn't bad enough, they added a 5% "covid restaurant relief" charge on top.

Fast-forward to this morning. I'm laying in bed looking at my credit card charges and see the charge from this restaurant. I tell my pregnant wife "I can't believe they put a covid relief charge on there. There are no lockdowns, this place is expensive af, and i"m sure they got PPP loans. Next time, I'm going to ask them to take it off."

This really pissed my wife off for no reason. She replies with "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IF THEY WON"T TAKE IT OFF".

I reply with "I'll just take it out of the tip"

She explodes with "I WAS A SERVER AND YOU DON'T PUNISH THE SERVER FOR THAT. I AM NEVER GOING THERE WITH YOU AGAIN. YOU EITHER PAY THE SURCHARGE OR DONT GO. I WILL JUST GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE."

Then called me a dick/ass hole a couple times, started crying, and went on a walk by herself.

Jesus christ lol

I hit up my fellow HVM neighbor who owns a food service business and he said he refuses to go to that restaurant because prices/charges are a complete joke and he would refuse to pay the charge as well lmfao

I’m done with kids but I learned to just give wife a giant pass for all her fukt up behavior during last two months of pregnancy.

I just say “sorry I know I can’t understand what your going through”. And try to ignore how crazy she is being.

Like last week or two before they pop, they really start losing their chit

Yeah that's what I'm trying to do, but without apologizing. Her due date is Monday, so she's certainly about to pop.

Why? That better be some fantastic French toast + eggs + meat + fruit and some drinks with booze at least.

And, yeah, pregnancy hormones are a thing. Very mild person usually and I got triggered a few times. One I remember was some jerk pinging our car with coins in a parking lot. Don't even know why he was mad, but I bet at that moment I was madder.

Nah, it was french toast only. It was very good and the drinks were certainly strong, but still way too much.

You need to learn to shut up and just say Yes Dear. My wife use to rearrange the house every couple of days when she was pregnant with our first. Our camp's house boy would plead with me to talk to her as he was getting winded rearranging heavy furniture every couple of days.

Might be TMI but we have 2 kids & wife had 2 miscarriages along the way. The last 2 times I could tell she was pregnant before we got a positive test because of her mood swings in the first trimester were evident within a week of conception. Went back to normal during the second.

Oh know I’m apologizing she’s going through a tough time. I’m not apologizing for anything I did. It’s a “I’m sorry you are suffering” they are probably irrational enough to take it as an apology for whatever they are mad at you over but technicalities matter to me.
