One of my clients is a vet and says that most people who get into things involving animals do so because they are emotionally damaged and animals give unconditional love. So that includes fairly unattractive women.

Anybody obsessed with animals has some faulty wiring or dealing with underlying issues. My uncle had a collection of exotic animals that he kept as pet. He came out as gay years later. Like others have said, a lot of women whose lives are focused on animals are usually ugly, etc, or dealing with mental issues.

I used to work for a major retailer that had pharmacy and sold pet supplies. Those on anti depressants were more likely to buy pet chit lol

Cats and dogs dont tell people how lame they are, but other people tend to eventually, so broken people quite often cut contact with other people and surrogate animals as companions because they dont want to hear hard things, ever.
