Career vs Jab is the situation I find myself in.
Misc, found myself between a rock and a hard place. I have been able to avoid the jab this long at my current job since it doesnt really involve travel. I just interviewed for a new position at a different company and they require the vax as a company policy. My personal belief is that I had covid already and beat it and dont see a point in getting the vax. I dont think ill drop dead or emit 5g but I do have some mild concerns about side effects and what else is yet to uncover in that realm, but at the same time, I know tons of people who have been jabbed and all is normal. The new position would be a pretty big step up, in both career goals and in salary, its the only reason why I am thinking of jabbing myself. I guess below is a breakdown of my current position and the new to compare and contrast:
Current Position (been with the company for 8 years): Mech E
-90k/year + 10-20k yearly bonus depending on a few KPI, prob get 17.5 if I had to guess.
-4 Weeks PTO + 8 sick/personal days, somewhat flexible hours.
-New Board/Management, big layoff where lots of the department I work in was laid off.
-Extremely top heavy now with very little technical left. I went from a team of 14 to a team of 4. Management when from 5 to 12 now. 4 layers within our group with 1 person at each layer kinda BS.
-New boss is kinda a dick and enjoys slapping his name on other peoples work.
-No vax requirements (yet)
-"startup" that has been going for 15 years, still pre-revenue and somehow still gets investors.
-Based in NJ where I have been most of my life, I dont see a future here between cost of living+taxes. The good of this job is that it requires very little effort to do since I have been doing it for a while now + I know the industry as well. Some weeks I can complete my work within 20 hours and goof off for the rest of the 20.
New Position: Lead Mech E
-125k/year + up to 25k bonus yearly. Not sure what its based on just yet.
-3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick days. Less flexible hours but I will be traveling some and they allow WFH as needed.
-My boss would be an old boss of mine that I loved to work for at my current place that got pushed out of my current job with the layoffs, so I know them well already and like working for them.
- Vax required due to travel, no exceptions from what I can see.
-Startup that is actually a funded subsidiary of a global parent company (ie good financial backing). Either way they are in their 3rd year and are making profit already.
- Based in eastern PA which is where I was wanting to live for a while now, Wife and I both spend time there already camping/hiking/ect.
If it wasnt for this vax requirement it would be a very easy pick for me, however, since I need to get vaxed, I am a bit more hesitant. I could try to use this offer as a counter to my current place, but I believe that they would either not care (shown this before) or it puts a target on my back to get replaced. If I wasnt traveling and they required a card I would make it appear but since I would be going in and out of the country I am more worried. Id rather not get the vax, but this opportunity fell into my lap and im strongly considering it at this point. Wat do misc.
TLDR:Old job sorta sucks, pay is okay, work is easy, HCOL, no vax requirements, no future within company. New opportunity is a very cool position/technology, better pay, LCOL, vax required, going to be a lot of work till I get into the groove, plenty of growth potential.

My opinion: if you’re willing to risk your health and literal life FOREVER for a job, have at it.
You have to be a grade A fool to take that poison at this point, there are thousands of hours of videos testimony about side effects and death.
FFS young people in Australia (and America and Europe) are “dying suddenly for unknown reasons” at a rapidly increasing rate srs.
Your call in the end, but if/when it destroys you physically or mentally you’ll think back to this thread and remember what I said.

To be honest, your current job doesn't sound THAT much worse than the new. If you feel like you have job security for now, I'd probably stay for a little longer until this vaccine stuff goes away. In the meantime, keep looking for something else that's possibly remote. Plenty of those kinds of jobs now.
If you're really keen on the new job, reach out to your old boss and inquire about the vaccine accommodations/exceptions and make sure there is absolutely nothing they can do.

I would be tempted to get the jab and take the new job. It sounds like a good fit for you. That said, if you want to go with a fake vax card, try to find someone who actually gives the vaccine and get a ghost jab.
A $100.00 bill will be the most it should cost. Probably a lot less. Somewhere down the road you will probably have to deal with boosters. Good luck whatever you decide.

I'm in the same boat.
But, the #1 priority in your life should always be your health.
That's why I'm going to wait it out for another year and stay at my current job.
I'm 100% sure another great job will be available to you in a year from now when covid is finally gone and when the covid vaccine contract is up

Never sacrifice your morals, values or principles for frivolous aspects of life. Any man that does doesn't deserve honor. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
Be a man OP. If you can't stand up against this, then what do you even stand for as a man?

We all have to make our decisions on what is best for us. Best of luck on finding what works best for you.
Was reading a bit ago that the airline pilot shortage often mentioned in the news is due to many pilots either experiencing side effects from the COVID vaccine and not being able to pass physical tests to be a pilot or retiring instead of being vaccinated.
My cousin's husband recently retired from being a commercial pilot. He began to experience health issues. His legs begin to hurt painfully when sitting for extended periods of time. I can't say if the COVID vaccination caused that pain or not. He hasn't commented about the pain to my family. We do though have a family friend that began to experience similar leg pains after receiving the COVID shot. He blames the vaccine for his leg troubles. His pain was so bad that he had both his hips replaced.
What’s going on with our commercial airlines?
https://www.americanthinker.com/blog..._airlines.html
excerpt:
Every night, I hear a report on the network news announcing the number of flights canceled. If it’s a slow news day, reporters might interview a couple of irritated, stranded travelers. Thousands of flights are axed on any given day. Many more are delayed. News readers just read the report, without any substantive questioning about why there’s suddenly a great shortage of pilots. The weather is the only excuse ever offered, and that doesn’t work when there are no storms slowing things down.
What’s going on? We’ve never had a pilot shortage before. We may currently have more air travelers needing flights than a year ago, but not more than before COVID—and yet, here we are, facing an entirely new problem. It’s so bad that American Airlines is offering pilots on its regional carriers double and triple pay for the month of July if they’ll take extra flights.
It’s not hard to figure out what’s happening—despite the seeming prohibition on our pilots saying anything about it. We rarely hear a peep from them, at least on mainstream news outlets. There’s even a noticeable dearth of questions asked at Fox News of late. Nobody is questioning this fiasco beyond some Fox Business report of a lot of pilot retirements. It just is, apparently.
There are always going to be retirements and saying, as the link above does, that it’s “expensive to become a pilot.” Give me a break! That’s never been an issue before. So why even consider it now? What job does one get where advanced training doesn’t cost money?....

They're asking you to risk your health and life permanently for a medical treatment that you don't need, for the promise of a job that you may not have a year from now. That sounds like a no brainer to me.
I'm making well into 6 figures with incredible benefits. Job wants me to get the jab. Told them no. If it comes down to jab or job, I'm finding a new job.
If you cave now, this will never end. "Just two shots to save grandma" will become mandatory booster, mandatory second booster, mandatory annual shot, IT WILL NEVER END.

I ordered a plastic vax card holder off amazon. Its like a three pack. Came with a few blank vax cards.
Only cost like $9 or something like that.

I vote jab tbh. It's mandatory anyways for cruises, and probably other things. Your choice to limit yourself from doing things now, or your choice to believe the jab can jeopradize your health. I'm biased cuz I just got the booster for a cruise, but I've not had any noticable issues after any jab. Besides, I think we're nearing the end of it being a requirement for things, especially jobs.
