Small Businesses
Thoughts?
I believe in them. I believe we'd be a lot better off if we'd rebuild with them in focus.
Imagine the sense of purpose people at large could feel. Not everyone could/should be a business owner, but small business employees can have far more agency over their jobs/careers/lives when working with good leaders. What are the benefits to a society built on small businesses?
I believe the primary argument against this is that big businesses do some things better in some ways. Though, I'd say that things accomplished by big businesses COULD be accomplished by smaller ones, perhaps it'd require fundamental changes to large market systems among other things (potentially sharing of resources/infrastructure between businesses), but I believe it's possible and potentially very much better. Do you agree? Could it be accomplished in a grassroots way without complete government/economic transformation?
edit: Happy America Day g'damnit, I'm all in on America 2.0 — are you?

Majority of employment is by small businesses not corporations.
I love them and support them. I stand by them 100%. Someone taking a risk, putting all their money and time to make it successful.
Takes a certain type of person to do that, not many why to take on that challenge.

I buy from small businesses when I can, much better service most of the time even if it costs a bit more.
Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

idk brah its kinda complicated.
Imo, the more small businesses there are, the better. When lots of individuals make good money, the country becomes stronger as a whole. You have more unique product offerings that can be combined to make new products. For example, making plastic takes the work of several different companies specializing in their own thing - and that's just to make plastic. In other countries, where everyone just makes the same stuff(food, fruits, etc) you don't have a variety of products to make better products.

wongleer.com Your network is crucial to the success of your small business. You may interact with people and seize opportunities that advance your company in addition to helping you reach more potential clients.
Because of this, networking should be viewed as a terrific means of business marketing and as an investment in your future success.

I feel like big businesses generally only do business by the numbers. For the health of a society, you need more than a few small businesses. They have more autonomy to do as they see individually fit, and you also have more a workforce with more general life know-how. Big businesses do have a lot to offer, but I feel like they also tend to produce more homogeneity in society and thinking.
