Have you noticed? All wealth is self-made, symbolising the superior ability of the individual. No generous inheritances, no bank of mom & dad handing out 0:% loans never to be paid back.

That’s me. My parents treated my brother like a prince. Bought him cars, apt, clothes, whatever he wants. Now he has a kid so they stay over there giving him more. Never bought me crap. I got kicked out of college so I never took a loan. Now they are erasing loans. What a joke. Then I never got a house so I’ve never borrowed from a bank or anything. I have good credit. I just use credit cards for safety reasons but that’s it

of course. why would they think differently? they don't have to

they're gonna take the path of least resistance. instead of saying oh my parents bought me that building they're gonna say oh i built this building, did this, did that. the former would make them feel worse, so they won't

there was a study on monopoly with this. they gave someone more money to start out and not only did they attribute their moves to their own doing, they were very pompous and made larger moves

my bro does too. have been on the phone with him when he talks about clients that inherit some land/ multi million dollar homes and they're like "idk what to do with it"

There is something a lot more endearing about the rags to riches story. I came from upper middle class and doing worse off than my father did, so I kind of feel like a loser tbh.

I’m fairly open about it.

But I’m also back in the city where my family is from and everyone knows my name and what my family does. I think either having to bust my ass as a chef for 15 years made me not give a fuk if people assume less of me for not making it on my own.

But my reality is I’m secure in the knowledge of what I Have accomplished on my own in my life. And I’m also comfortable with the fact that the mere mention of my name stands for a type of generational wealth that’s just who I am. It’s who my kids will be. It’s not something that makes someone less, unless that person is insecure about their own accomplishments and feels like their ego/identity is based more around just having that family name.

Grandma originally had me in her will, 1/3rd of it all mine. Wasnt much but she did have a house. First took me and my mom off at the advice of her attorneys or some chit, wtf you stupid sloot Im your blood. Then took my dad off after they got in an argument. Stupid pops should have held his tongue for a few more years then he would have got it all and it would make its way to me after him.
