What kind of self checkout morals do you have?
Will you 100% scan everything?
Scan everything but maybe scan a bag of apples as one single apple?
Or full on cuck the self checkout and not scan maybe that gallon of milk or steak?
Gotta remember this is Biden’s america

The only shenanigans I'm doing there nowadays is occasionally changing the type of Apples to a cheaper variety. I usually get Cosmic Crisp, but sometimes at full price they're like $1.50 per apple. I sometimes ring them in for a cheaper .99 cent per pound variety.

Haven't been in a grocery store in 4 years. Groceries are delivered.
I think cvs has self checkout, I scan everything because I usually just have medicine.

Yeah I scan everything.
by the way fuk self-checkout. I get flagged and they need to go through my receipt if I use too many coupons. That chit never happens when I use the normal checkout.
"just use the normal checkout then"
But grocery stores these days are pushing for more people to use self-checkout so they only have like 2 staffed checkout lanes open at a time and they have like 4 people in line each.

Scan everything properly now but when I was in college I would steal a few things srs. Hold the item so the barcode is in the opposite direction and glide it over the scanner.
Just once out of like 50 times some Karen (not even an employee) said “that didn’t scan”. I was like “oh chit really? Oh you’re right my bad” and actually scanned it.

I am not a thief so i scan everything and pay for it all. Just because you can easily scam the system doesnt mean you should.

People actually get accosted over this stuff? Never experienced anything like that, usually there isn't even a person watching the self checkouts and you need to wait a minute or two for someone to hurry over if you have issues with the machine
I'm probably like 98% accurate but any inaccuracies aren't intentional, sometimes a code doesn't perfectly match a bulk item and I just let it slide rather than wait for the person to come over and delete an item

the convenience stores, drug stores and grocery stores I go to have always treated me well, so I would never steal from them, even though I easily could. "character" integrity and class is doing the right thing when nobody's looking, just because it's right

I always scan everything at self-checkouts. I'm not one to lose a moral value as basic as not stealing just because of opportunity.
Besides that, it seems to me that almost all self-checkouts are equipped with cameras that catch everything in perfect view nowadays. A lot of them even have little camera displays showing the person using the self-checkout exactly how they are being recorded as a reminder not to try stealing because of it being self-checkout. So I'm not sure how anyone is still stupid enough to think they can get away with it.
Having said all that, I dislike self-checkouts in most instances. Self-checkout is a pain in the asss anytime you've got a significant cart full of stuff to scan. They're useful for small purchases with about 10 or fewer items. Other than that, they suck. Dealing with slow people clogging up the lines, often a dumb random issue requiring an employee to come clear it so you can continue, etc.

I don't typically go to the self check out lane. The main store I shop at doesn't have self check out.
Was kind of chuckling at the cashier the last time I shopped. He wanted to point out to me how interesting it is that companies now are designing UPC codes into shapes. As an example, one item I purchased had a UPC code shaped as a farm house. Felt kind of bad for him. He is either over worked or had some mental issues I'm guessing. I went along with showing interest though and he seemed pleased about that.

I was a cashier supervisor as a teen in a supermarket back in like 2002-2005, and the security guy showed me the security system. They had like 20 14" inch screens and a few 27" screen so they could see everything from every angle. and those cameras aren't fixed. from the control room if you focus on a camera, you can swing the angle around left to right up and down 360 and zoom in and out to really scrutinize what people are doing. they could have 3 people watching 1 person from 3 different cameras/angles that can zoom in and see everything and its all recorded.
that was 20 years ago at stop and shop, i cant imagine how much more efficient and complex the cameras are these days
by now, they probably have AI cameras that auto focus on every person in the store at all times and record that shyt.
even if you get away with it, the loss reduction department will notice that for example 10 cans of soup were put on the shelf and they're all gone, yet only 8 of them were scanned by a cashier, that means 2 cans were stolen or misplaced, they can go back and look at the cameras to see how that might have happened and they'll see footage of you swiping them

just read that they are prosecuting all for "mistakes" ;the loss prevention guys are done with it all and a zero tolerance policy, so stand in line at a cashier.
