LGBTQ health organisations are calling on the government to immediately roll out a monkeypox vaccine program as case numbers continue to climb.

Global case numbers have rapidly accelerated, prompting the World Health Organisation to call it a global emergency on Sunday.

There are now at least 41 cases in Australia.For reasons scientists do not yet understand, the current outbreak is largely affecting men who have sex with men – although there have been cases in other groups, including children.

Thorne Harbour’s call for a vaccine rollout was backed by the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations, which also called for government funding for a virus and vaccine awareness campaign.

However, Australia’s only approved monkeypox vaccine, ACAM2000, is not suitable for people who have compromised immune systems, such as those living with HIV. An early study of the outbreak in May found that 41 per cent of confirmed monkeypox cases globally were in men with HIV; they are also at higher risk of severe illness from the virus.

A newer vaccine, Jynneos, is registered in the US and UK but not Australia.

“You can get lesions in the mouth, the anus. It’s no fun. No one wants to be covered in lesions, and they take a few weeks to go away. It’s not like chickenpox.”

It's not really lethal since it doesn't kill on it's own but can lead to other complications. I think it's like chickenpox or other cold sore chit where you can't really cure it per se cause it hides in your nerves forever.

So not lethal so these queers will just keep queering and spreading it by hugging their families who then hug others, touch gym equipment etc etc

They want us all to get the vaccine because these animals can't control themselves

World Health Organization urges gay men to limit number of sexual partners

The head of the World Health Organization has suggested that men who have sex with men temporarily limit their number of sexual partners while monkeypox cases increase within their community — a shift in messaging from the global health agency days after it raised its threat alert level for the monkeypox outbreak.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the comments Wednesday during a news briefing in which he said 98 percent of monkeypox cases have been reported in men who have sex with men.

“For men who have sex with men, this includes, for the moment, reducing your number of sexual partners, reconsidering sex with new partners, and exchanging contact details with any new partners to enable follow-up if needed,” Tedros said.
