I miss working with Linux so much

Switched to a company just over a year ago that's a pure Windows shop and every day I miss linux. Been watching videos on YT of just general linux stuff so I don't lose that knowledge.

Linux is my oneitis in the IT world.

Windows sucks. The only version I like is 3.1 or XP and I hardly use 3.1. I'd rather say in MS-DOS 6.22.

Next modern desktop OS is going to be Linux. I've tried Windows 10 and hate it.

At one place I used to work, I got certified for Red Hat Enterprise Linux admin to go with my Sun Solaris certs. New CTO came in a month later and said we are migrating everything off of *nix onto Windows. You adapt. Learn powershell etc.

It's just so clunky and PowerShell is like the cheap chinese knockoff of Bash.

brb grep doesn't exist in PS so have to use something like get-childitem or select-string instead, herp derp i'm a WiNdOwS uSeR now

PS pales in comparison to BASH or ZSH. At least some stuff they have aliased like ls and cd, but even things like dig I had to create my own aliases for (resolve-dnsname in PS)

Hah, yeah having grep in Windows would be soooo handy.

God Microsoft are a bunch of useless cretins.

Yeah grep is awesome. You can kind of futz around and “kind of” do sinilar stuff with findstr or in powershell select-string, but sometimes depending on what you are piping you have to convert it with out-string -stream etc. if you are scripting stuff its no big deal but for quick one liner stuff grep is WAY easier
