Here's the fix for homelessness.

Contrary to popular belief, most people who are homeless, (not couch surfing because I'm cheap and lazy homeless, actual homeless), are not homeless because things are too expensive, or because of capitalism, or because of the "man". Most people who are homeless are homeless because of severe mental illness.

LA as an example:

https://www.latimes.com/california/s...ess-disability

All the money spent, all the schemes, all the effort, it doesn't improve the situation. And that's simply because you cannot tell a crazy person to stop being crazy, but also, the crazy person doesn't believe they are crazy, and because they are crazy, they will not act in a rational manner.

The fix is actually quite simple. Round all the homeless people up, lock them up in mental hospitals, and medicate them. Once they've become somewhat stable, determine who can and who cannot reintegrate into society, and for those who do, continue to medicate them whilst training them ion both marketable skills, as well as how to cope with their mental illness. Those who cannot be reintegrated, keep them medicated, and ,ove them to an asylum wherein they can live fulfilling lives to the extent their mental illness will allow them.

This was sort of tried in the past, but the mistake was just letting these mentally ill individuals rot with no care, confined to a small room, abused by incompetent staff, etc. With enough transparency and oversight, we could build a system that would take care of these individuals, whilst keeping the streets clean of the homeless.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

As you said, this has been tried with mental institutions. Abusive staff and medical procedures like lobotomies kinda ruined the integrity of those facilities for good.

Also abusive staffing will ALWAYS be an issue. Hell, its still a problem to this day with children in adoption centers and the elderly in nursing homes.

Also, is it cheaper to keep people homeless, or to house them and have them medicated?

Agreed. Homeless people should be treated like feral animals because that is what they are. Those that can be integrated back into society should. Those that can not can stay in the shelters where they can't harm others.

This is all sound, but the problem lies in our laws allowing these mentally unstable people to make their own decisions as far as refusing treatment. Mentally sound 16 year olds need parental permission to do many things, but an obviously unwell 18-40+ year old homeless person who jerks off in public still has rights to autonomy, according to many state leaders.

I bet medicated is cheaper, think of all the damage and cleanup that homeless people cause.

And while yes, abuse is an issue, the way to fix that is more transparency across the board.

Not like animals, like humans who can't control themselves because of mental illnesses.

Yes, that is one hurdle, and the fix is to make it so that unstable people who become wards of the state get whatever best treatment is deigned by professional staff assigned to them. Crazy people don't know they're crazy, and therefore can't make proper decisions regarding their treatment.

Homelessness is worse than ever because the libtards are actively INCENTIVIZING it. It is now a better and easier time to be homeless than ever before. In the 1990s I never saw any tents. Police wouldnt allow it, the police would actually do their jobs and ENFORCE EXISTING LAWS saying no you cant put a tent up on the fuking side walk and just chill there. Now they have entire homeless encampments, entire tent cities. Also most homeless now can get welfare every month and blow it all on drugs and alcohol. It used to be much harder for them to get welfare and foodstamps without ID or residence but all these libtard states have made it super easy for them to get like 800 a month to blow on whatever drugs they want.

Homeless in the 1990s: sleeping on a card board box begging all day for change

Homeless in 2022: Glorified camping. Living in a tent, large collection of stolen goods, drive a stolen moped, have cell phone with internet, money deposited on your card by sucker tax payers every month.

In the 90s they had tents in Baltimore where I grew up. I remember it.

I use to work in social services and the mentally ill are a problem because there are so many types of mental illnesses. They'd also need to be individually evaluated.

Paranoid schizophrenic are the worst because they believe everything and everyone is out to get them. If you push them too much on the issue they'll start to think YOU are also in on some government scheme to kidnap them to do experiments on them or some chit, but even in their fully medicated state they're at best a paranoid doomsday prepper, but instead of hoarding food, they hoard garbage or their own feces in jars (srs).

Then you have people that have been homeless for so long they simply don't know how to adjust to a life or normalcy where they have their own personal space. They don't know how to keep it clean, and don't know how to adhere to a specific task or schedule (going to school/work for example). They're use to laying on a pile of leaves surrounded by needles and garbage beneath the overpass.

The 3rd group of people are the ones that are for the most part normal....but, not really. They're not mentally retarded (like Down's) but they're just very slow learners, and things that would normally be a mundane tasks takes a considerable amount of effort for them to complete or understand (like learning how to drive or understanding basic math). Of course with this slow learning ability they're also horrendous at things like money management or keeping a job. They're essentially the poster-children for being ditch diggers because thats basically all they can do are the bean counting tasks...and I don't mean this offensively but they so dumb they don't even know how to time their sleep properly so they can wake up early enough to get to their ditch digging job, so they get fired....and its quite sad, because many of them are aware of how dumb they are and are frustrated that they can't figure out how to properly live in society.

The 4th group are completely normal mentally, but just had a bad dice roll in life. They developed some debilitating injury, or were in a bad accident and accrued a ton of medical debt or perhaps made some bad decisions when they were younger and are in a ton of debt. Their injuries prevent them from getting a good job and the jobs they DO have they can't keep because their injuries force them to take so many days off they get fired. So coupled with an unstable means of income AND poor credit they cannot get approved to rent an apartment anywhere, so they remain homeless, and its not because they're lazy or they're trying to cheat the system, its just that life has been one chitty situation after another for them.

So, all I have to say about this is i'm glad its not my job to try to fix because quite frankly I don't have a solution to the problem and if there was a solution at one time we've long passed the ability for it to work,

IDK If you have thought about it but most people with various mental illnesses refuse to take their meds. So its a never ending cycle. And if you check out any modern homeless camp, its full of stolen goods, they are all criminals.

A lot of them have stolen mopeds now and the cops just drive right by and ignore it.

I will say it wasn't a tent city but you'd see a few tents strung together.

They'd also just use black plastic trash bags. There was a difference though, it was the same homeless people over and over. My dad knew some of their names and we had nicknames for some. Today's homeless change every month.
