Just got cuffed at the US border

Cliffs: nothing bad happened (story time)

Almost chit my pants bros. Rolled up to the Nexus line to get back to the US from a quick trip up to British Columbia. Had my passport in hand. Officer took it and told me to put my hands on the door, step out of the car and there were three more homeland security officers ready. Hands behind my back, cuffed, patted down, and escorted to a windowless back room.

In that time they did a full scan of my passport and whatever else to determine I wasn't the guy they were looking for. Apparently, someone with my name and maybe similar description is a wanted fugitive they are trying to apprehend.

I was only in cuffs for a couple min and it was all good once they knew I wasn't the fugitive. Cuffs came off real quick and they let me be on my way without any issue. Other than my obvious concern with being in handcuffs, they were very professional. Still gave me a good scare. Glad I'm not involved with anything shady.

They had me talk to a supervisor who explained what happened. He couldn't tell me much of anything about the person they were looking for except that this could happen again if I cross the border, renew my passport, or get an enhanced ID. I am flying to Vegas on Thursday. Fingers crossed I get cavity searched.

Couldn't they have just asked you to wait in the car or in the room without cuffing you while they background-checked you?

They had me checked within 5 min, so you'd think I could have waited in the car. I got the feeling this is someone they expected to be armed. They were coming up the side of my car using it for cover.

I’ve been in cuffs once and ngl it was pretty scary. I was in my early teens when I got pulled over because my bro put the plates of one of his car that was stolen by someone else. I got pulled over and guns pointed at me as the cops ran the plate. The window didn’t work so I couldn’t roll it down and they were yelling to put my hands out the window lol. Then then just let me go after lol. One of the officers that came to the scene was. Like this little guy ain’t no trouble.

This is why people should get rid of the bad boy look. Cops will give you a harder time.
