How do you think they would behave if our prisons worked like Ukrainian prisons?





Most of the inmates work. Why tf not make Western prisons into labor camps? Why not profit rather than making them sit around all day?

most of them work, very little money, like a few cents. many of them are firefighters and assembly folks. they didnt abolish the 13th amendment

It's not productive to make inmates do slave type of work that isn't applicable to society.

That's already a massive problem with US prisons.

For instance, in the PA prison system they used to have a lot of farm and clothing work. So, the inmates grew food that fed other inmates and they made all of the clothes inamtes wore.

That sounds pretty good as it teaches a work ethic and makes it so the prison doesn't have to buy basic items.

HOWEVER, we are living in the twenty-first century and NO ONE has farm jobs OR makes clothes in the US.

So, we had inmates who were hard workers and did a great job. The whole prison system relied on them and they went from criminals to working men who were needed.

After their sentence ended, they returned to Philly with 18th century job skills, lol.

That's retarded.

You have to train inmates to fit into modern society.

Our prison system is an absolute failure. However, what OP posted may be worst.

Scandinavian countries' prisons are actually the better model. Sure, people say they look like resorts and all, but the reoffender rate, called the recidivation rate is much much lower there.

It doesn't.

The result is more ruthless criminals.

It makes more sense to kill all victims to avoid witnesses.

That's why rapists kill a lot of their victims and do it quickly. They abduct someone, rape them, kill them and get moving.

The social and legal punishment for abduction and rape is so bad it is logical for a rapist to kill their victim.

We are not going to improve that too much, but it's not wise to make other types of criminals feel so at risk that they need to kill anyone they encounter.

Earlier in the 20th century rape used to be a death penalty. However, that was changed due to what I said about murdering victims and because it was considered to be too much punishment.

That is not why.

They are assuming the inmate has antisocial qualities they learned in childhood, through bad experiences, etc and then they set up prison to counteract those bad experiences and show them that society works and shows them what that is like.

This tends to work because criminals tend to have "thinking mistakes" that make them selfish and think others are enemies when they are not.
