Why aren't we talking about Artificial intelligence more?
i don't think people realize just how close we are to crossing the barrier to a complex intelligent life form
we're all focused on global conflict but this AI progression is going under the radar
AI can now experience taste, touch, smell and can understand pictures/videos just like humans, we're only a matter of years from true AI consciousness and nobody knows the ramifications
there's no going back once its created.
this is the biggest threat to humanity srs

Science cannot even explain consciousness.
There is no way there will be a "conscious" AI any time soon.

The replies above are why we don’t talk about these things OP.
Some have called current AI efforts “robots.” Others still think they operate exclusively on if else statements.
When quantum computing hits, it’s gonna be a life changing event on par with the first electrical Boolean logic implementation. That’s when true AI will emerge.

last month, google engineer said some ai tech he is working on is sentient...google fired him for revealing company secrets.

it'll just sift through information to appear sentient. but i dont think that's real sentience
care to explain how "quantum computing" will replicate consciousness?

We do not know how or why the brain works, not just "consciousness" but like basic stuff like "What is an idea" because no one knows.
With construction equipment, we can build giant arms to dig dirt, because we know how an arm works and can simulate it. However, we cannot simulate a brain because we do not know how it works.
In addition, computer language can't be "empty" it has to be programmed to say things. So anything made with computer language is going to be a robot, meaning it does programmed work only.
We have no way to make a "blank" computer that is programmed by experience.
All of that means that a computer cannot be intelligent, only a robot.
If we had a large enough program we might be able to make a simulation of a person, but not something that can think for itself.

AI isn't going to be "conscious". We don't even understand our own consciousness and it might just be noise taking place from all of the processing going on in our brains. It's not a pre-req for some super intelligent being.
Not saying AI isn't a potential danger. If there is some super intelligent being, even without "consciousness", it might classify humans as a threat and take action.
