Why do people care about Griner and not their own fellow Americans locked up for weed

There’s plenty of people here in the United States doing hard time for having the audacity to be in possession of marijuana.

But yet, no widespread outrage over them. No CNN, and ESPN coverage over them.

But yet, Griner breaks the laws of another country on possessing marijuana, and there’s outrage, media coverage, the US government willing to trade arms dealers for her.

Meanwhile, they let our own citizens rot in prison.

Secondly, people in prison for weed aren't on their first offense. Jail maybe, but not years in prison.

Like her or not its sad that she will stay locked up until the 2024 election.

Imagine how she feels knowing they are just going to let her rot there until they can cash in for their own purposes.

Pretty sad thats the only way they can get a small victory.

Yeah she is American, but how many other Americans are locked up abroad and domestically because of weed?

Maybe a dude is on probation, and tests positive for weed. Parole violation and now he’s got 5 years.

biden isn’t trying secure the release of other Americans abroad convicted of similar charges in other nations.

But because Griner is a d list celebrity, all the stops are being pulled out to free her.

Anybody complaining about this has never lived in another country, Russia is not the US and in case people have not noticed Russia is fighting a proxy war with the US

Even if in a friendly country people need to follow their rules not ours but if in an openly hostile country this kind of stuff and worse happens all of the time its just that she/he is getting a lot of attention because she fits a lot of narratives, that said, she is getting massively screwed on this

There are 158 Private Prisons in the US which means they are corporate ran for profit.

Those prisons make hundreds of millions annually.
