This is worse than inflation IMO-generic brands going away. Calling Katya...
Anybody notice generic brands going away? Selection between brands is going away as well. Went to Walmart, zero big bulk generic laundry detergent, zero big bulk generic dish soap. I'm waiting for the big bulk generic TP to go away. Started noticing this a few weeks ago. Generic whole wheat pasta has been super limited for months. Brb spending 30% more now for certain things but inflation is only 8%....

I already started the transition of eating ze bugs and wiping my ass Indian style.
I tell you, these elites sure know how to push us to a utopian way...
But no, I actually haven't noticed. Most items I used to buy in the past, I skip now. I only buy the stuff I use daily.

Honestly feels like chit is happening that hasn't trickled down yet, but is very visible, but is totally ignored. Like the March 2020 crash which was so goddam predictable. I feel these are signs but of a much deeper problem than stock market prices.

I get all my generic chit from costco. Kirkland seems to be keeping up. There was a little scare with my generic rogaine, but i found a costco that had it and bought a 2 year supply.
The kirkland coffee has gone from 9.99 for 3 lbs to 14.99 so I may be shifting away from generic, but that's about it.

Walmart would never abandon their Great Value brand because it's too much of a moneymaker.... People are just buying up all the generic cheap stuff and the supply chains have been slow.
At my local Walmart all the sodas have been completely sold out - brand name sodas and cheap generic Walmart sodas. All the generic spices are sold out as well.
These disruptions from COVID will probably take another year to resolve - unless Monkeypox becomes a thing and they force us to lockdown again... then all bets are off....

And I can confirm that a good number of Walmart generics have disappeared- meaning discontinued and there is no longer a shelf space.
The main items that I depended on getting for the best price at Walmart:
- TP and paper towels
- paper plates
- eye drops [for dry eyes]
- soaps and lotions
- common OTC medications [allergy meds, pain meds, etc.]
They are just gone now. The last time I bought bar soap I got the WM version of Dove bars because the price was better. Just looked within the last week and it's gone.
They had an Equate version of several Gold Bond lotions- now they only have two that I saw.
The Equate version of the better eyedrops just stopped being in stock very often and now most are gone. FWIW I prefer the ones that come in the round bottles vs. the ones that come in the flat Visine style bottles.
The paper plates I like seem to be missing. Still okay on TP and usually paper towels.

Interdasting. Note to self, buy more costco stock.

I don't shop at walmart unless i really need to.
50 people in line
only 4 registers open and one is the 20 or less.
8 self checkouts.
20 people waiting for those also.
it's fuk'n ridiculous.
i primarily shop at aldi.
can get everything i need and through checkout in 30-45mins.
almost everything at aldi is generic.
and aldi is usually packed also.
they just open the proper amount of registers to get people checked out ASAP.
