Why are Democrats against nuclear energy?

I know not all, but if they're so much for clean energy.

Because the nuclear lobbyists fuked off to reasonable countries. And none of the energy sector lobbyists want them back.

I haven't read much into that, but can guess.

Many green leftists are also against the building of geo thermal.energy production, which compared to nuclear is less dangerous. There isn't the uranium waste seen from nuclear energy production.

I think what needs to happen is that our environmental laws needs to be improved. We want a clean environment but also it is important that projects can be performed.

Currently with Biden and their radical management of the environment, pretty much nothing can be built from what I've been reading.

"Geothermal vs. the greens"

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog...he_greens.html

As Kermit once intoned, "it's not easy being green," especially if you're also a woke, fanatical member of the Church of Green Energy. To much fanfare, Google announced in May 2021 that it would power one of its massive, energy-hogging data centers in Nevada using a next-generation geothermal plant.

"To reach 24-7 (carbon-free energy), we also need to go beyond wind and solar and tap into sources of on-demand clean energy like geothermal," Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Tuesday. "It's not widely used today and we want to change that. I'm excited to announce that we are partnering to develop a next-generation geothermal power project. This will connect to the grid, serving our Nevada data centers starting next year."

As is to be expected, other environmentalists objected because the project threatens to wipe out the Dixie Valley toad.

The latest twist came recently when the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to reinstate an injunction that halted construction. But only hours later, the parties themselves agreed to suspend construction temporarily.

[L]awyers for Ormat, the government, environmentalists and the tribe filed a joint stipulation in federal court in Reno detailing a voluntary agreement to suspend construction for at least 30 days — and perhaps until the end of the year.

The unusual turn of events comes after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service took the rare step of declaring the Dixie Valley toad endangered on a temporary emergency basis in April — something the agency has done only one other time in 20 years.

The prior notice is probably intended to give the toads time to relocate — at taxpayer expense.

In October 2020, Vox reported on the mind-numbing potential of geothermal.

The ARPA-E project AltaRock Energy estimates that "just 0.1% of the heat content of Earth could supply humanity's total energy needs for 2 million years." There's enough energy in the Earth's crust, just a few miles down, to power all of human civilization for generations to come. All we have to do is tap into it.

The Biden administration is all on board. It views geothermal as a key part of its green agenda. Or does it? Like Kermit, the administration's apparatchiks are finding that it's tough being green. Many within their fold are simply against everything, and winning a delay is the first small victory in the war for complete cancelation. Every human activity will have an environmental impact. And as long as the left views humans as the only illegitimate and unnecessary species on the Earth, the toads and every other creature will have the right of way.

geothermal only works in very specific geographic locations. To think that should be a large part of the future of energy production is basically retarded. That's like saying hydro should be expanded to the great plains.

Main reason people dont like it is they are stupid sheep.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

LOLz Build your own nuclear power plant if you're so fukkin' smart.

Then there's also that whole Fukushima thing that might leave people hesitant to allow some unaccountable conglomerate to build an incredibly complex and expensive power plant anywhere near where they live.

You just have to build them in places where they don't get hit by tsunamis.

Democrats love France and they get ~80% of their electricity from nuclear.

On a side note: one of the original leaders of greenpeace admitted that they shouldn't have objected to nuclear so much and they had to take some of the blame for climate change due to stopping nuclear.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

They've been programmed for a few decades to be anti-nuclear. More deaths happen daily in India from the air pollution than total people that have died from nuclear energy, ever. But hey, nuclear waste spillage a mile below the surface and nowhere close to water basins could maybe happen one day, and then the grandchildren the Greens insist on never having could magically be endangered.

A common excuse now is nuclear is too expensive. Because of the Greens themselves. Pretty much every energy company wants to build newer nuclear plants, not the same as the 50 yr old ones, which would save a lot of expense and be more efficient. More capable of using fissile waste as well. And of course building in a more modular way itself saves a ton of costs. Doesn't matter. Greens are in truth anti-human. They WANT most humans to die. To make lives more difficult so people will stop having kids like they decided for themselves already. This has been the case since the 1970s. These are the people who describe us humans as a virus on the planet.

If the builders are dumb enough to miscalculate the size of a wave what else are they gonna screw up?

I know there are new designs, the NRC just certified a new small reactor last month, but the public perception of these things is what it is. Blaming Dems or whatever isn't going to get anyone over that hurdle.

Until someone comes along similar to SpaceX and successfully re-imagines the economics of building nuclear power plants in the US the Vogtle plant in GA is probably the last of the massive complexes we'll ever see attempted.

Im for it. It has a place imo for a good time into the future when other methods of energy will develop to overtake it.

People are against it because nimby and ecological reasons with the heated water, and unresolved issues about how to deal with the spent rods.

Because it might be a great solution and then they'd have nothing to complain about and push for new laws that make life more difficult.

These are the same people who want gun control but support dropping gun charges against gang members so they can make bail and get lighter sentences, subverting their own policies cause all they really care about is control.

First: Why is the WEF (who control both fake parties) against nuclear energy?

Answer: Because you can't facilitate energy rationing, and savage extortion of the population with cheap, abundant power generation.
"The reason we are being murdered with genetic altering drugs is its slow acting and it causes your body to malfunction and destroy itself so there is a "plausible deniability" factor. Unlike most poisons which leave more evidence of being the direct cause of death."

I’d say it’s really a certain subset of green activists who’ve successfully brainwashed well-meaning people.

They’re watermelons. Green on the outside, red on the inside. They don’t want actual solutions. They want the economy and capitalism destroyed. This is why all their proposals involve economic destruction. They disguise themselves as being concerned about the environment so they can gain support.

This is why they don’t want nuclear.
