Has it become more difficult to make social connections during the last 12-18 months?

Than prior to Covid?

I'm trying to figure out if this is the case, or if I'm just getting older and naturally having a smaller group of people who want to be friends with me. I'm an even more social person now than I was back in like 2018, and I had much worse social anxiety back then. But even then, I could go out partying and traveling solo and wouldn't even have to try to make social connections. Nowadays, I'm a more social person and better at a lot of things socially, but have to really put in effort. I'm 37, but most people think I'm somewhere in the 28-30 range

I'm also better looking now than I was in the past, and am thinking that I'm maybe less approachable nowadays because of that? Anyways, would be interested to know everyone elses experiences.

It should happen naturally and you shouldn't have to try hard at all. Also, don't fap.

It will take a decade to recover from Covid & I don't mean the virus itself

The policies & way it was handled, especially by the media has had life-altering sociological/mental effects

Watch how people of all ages look at you walking by in a public store, as if you're a leper

I'm not surprised, MSM has portrayed it as airborne HIV; people to this day are wearing masks inside their own car

It's harder now because people are more absorbed with social media, online dating and superficial than in years past. 10 years ago you could go anywhere and strike up a conversation and make a friend. It absolutely isn't like this anymore as things have trended more online.

^ Speaking of politics, forgot to add that things are more polarized now thanks to politics. So harder to make connections.

Obviously things are different than it was 10 years ago, but I'm specifically talking about a comparison of now to like 2018-the beginning of 2020.

A majority of people have PTSD from the lockdowns.

Overall, people are more awkward.

I see this even in family and people i have known for decades.

I think its from not being able to read the faces of others for 2 years.

Yes it's much different now compared to 2018-2019. Political division, social media use and covid mental health issues have increase dramatically since then.

I would agree with you but I'm also not sure if I'm biased

I know the people I went out with stopped going out after covid

And then I've gotten a more blue collar job and haven't really come across people that would be good to go out with. Some cool people but then they're married, or they have kids, etc., etc

I don't really care that much either now

A lot of people are circumstances of proximity though. That's why college age will be hayday.. then a lot of them have friends from college. And also it's a good bet that people are using dating apps. So when they're dating someone they met them online

But even in analyzing all the other people I'm around it seems like people go out less than they used to. I hardly hear people talking about nights out and stuff. I would agree I even hear more about tik tok and other bullchit

People use to be so open to talk to others, without a filter either. Now everyone's walking on egg shells and strangers can't connect because they are afraid of offending the other person or triggering them to freak out, cause a scene and get filmed. Before smart phones and social media, it was much more authentic.
This

But superficial interaction is a red flag because it can mean people aren't being genuine. You can't trust these people since they can be two faced and liars.

Probably both, 37 is getting a bit too old for that sort of thing.
