Yes. Get a Weber Kettle with a Slow'n'Sear, Weber Smoky Mountain or an ugly drum smoker. You won't have to babysit any of these options much and the flavor you can get out of them is worlds better than any electric/pellet smoker once you learn how to use them.

A vertical propane one that you can add wood chunks or chips too. End thread. I've owned them all, from green eggs to offsets.

Those masterbuilt electric ones are cheap and pretty easy to start on. They don't last, but if you're not sure you'll stick with it don't go spend $500 on a smoker that you will never use in 2 years. Don't get propane as a first one, as it will add more headaches dealing with the bottle and direct flame.
You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.

Why do you say this? I don't have experience with any of these. My Pit Boss doesn't put out enough smoke for me so I add a pellet tube to get my desired smoke. I had a vertical propane previously and I definitely like my Pit Boss Pellet a lot more. Easier to operate.

I’ve seen one of these little chiefs last almost 30 years in a James beard award winning busy ass kitchen with alcoholic cooks.

There’s no reason that piece of chit should of survived that long

Don’t think they changed design in last 60 years either

Personally I use my Weber kittle with a space to play with my wood

Or I use a drum smoker at restaurant

But I also have tons and tons of wood and wood chips and stuff, not about to buy pellets. I keep cherry, apple, apricot wood

Charcoal + wood chunks will give much more and better smoke flavor than any pellet pooper or electric smoker. The only thing that tops a charcoal smoker in flavor/bark development is an offset stick burner but those require a lot more time/space/cost commitment for a beginner.

I've got an offset and a couple Weber kettles and I can get very good product out of the kettle, but the stick burner is still a noticeable improvement on top of that.

Weber Kettle Grill.

22 inch $139 or the step up is $239 has an ash catcher.

Or go on ******** Marketplace, you can get them for 50-75 bucks.

Get hickory chunks. You don't need a slow n sear or any of that stuff. Don't get paralyzed about charcoal. Kingsford is great.

I did a 6 lb brisket on mine in the pouring rain yesterday in 9 hours used snake method. Came out perfect.
