Early lineup question:

Half PPR, 1 RB + 1 Flex - Akers, Sanders, Mooney, Eli Moore

I'm thinking of rolling with Akers tonight in the RB spot. If I pull Akers and then Sanders retweaks his hammy, I'm left with Gainwell or J. Cook as an emergency sub, although if Sanders is out, Gainwell is a much more enticing play. For the flex, I think I like both WRs over Sanders. Moore got a chit ton of targets in the game Flacco played last year and has reportedly been the #1 guy in camp. Mooney has basically no one competing for targets (Kmet maybe). Both seem like good plays (my starters are Jefferson and M. Williams, not benching either of them).

I hope you didn't start Akers. Sean McVay is acting like Akers said he'd pipe his wife in a group chat

I did, unfortunately. It doesn't look like he's healthy. He and Henderson have had hammy issues in the last couple weeks, but it looks like Henderson is far closer to 100%. It's to the bench with Akers for a while, I guess. I can ride with Sanders (or Gainwell when Sanders gets hurt) as an RB2 for a while until Akers gets back on track.

Here's a hot tip - trade for Breece Hall next week. The Jets OC just called Michael Carter the "heartbeat of the offense", but Hall is obviously the much more talented player, just facing a pretty steep learning curve as a rookie. By the end of the season, Hall should supplant Carter, but if the Hall owners see those comments and see Carter get a 75% snap share this weekend, they may panic.

The Jets schedule in the fantasy playoff weeks is Detroit, Jacksonville, @Seattle.

Another one I'd add is Amari Cooper. If he has some duds to start the year, could end up getting him real cheap and just holding for when Watson returns.

Akers was going way too high in drafts,

he was good hist first year but not like some elite prospect, came back from the worst injury for RBs, sucked last time we saw him in the postseason, in a committee. I didn't expect 0 points but you could see he'd be a regrettable pick from miles away

I think at one point the ESPN draft software had him ranked ahead of Chubb.

i will say i was not hot on Akers coming into this game. i feel for you Jayarbie because I honestly would've tried to talk you out of Akers.

the AR performance was the real killer here. a game they lost, a game they're down pretty heavy, and Van Jeff missed it too. that stinks and makes you look at Robinson sideways. his contract would indicate they fully intend on getting him going though.

What round do you think he should have went?

I wanted nothing to do with Akers this week. That doesn't mean I thought he'd stink all year or anything but he barely played in camp, he was coming off a big injury LY and then hurt himself with a minor injury a couple weeks ago. I just would've wanted to see him in action before committing to him.

6 weeks from now he might be real good but I just would've wanted to see how he looked and how much they used him before putting him in a lineup over other options.

Akers was taken in the early 3rd round in our 10 man league. I got Henderson in like the 14th round or something.

James Robinson may have given some hope to Akers owners. Can't read too much into it since that was ETN's first game but Robinson looked really good.

Shame about Dak, have him in a couple leagues. That was my cheap target if I couldn't get any of the top 6 + Russ.

Happy I avoided Lamb everywhere. Didn't understand why he had so much hype this year despite not really doing much so far in his career. Probably would have been a bust even if Dak didn't get hurt but now it's really over.

Thanks. I did at least sub in Sanders for Eli Moore based on the weather forecast for the Jets game, and it looks like I'm going to win anyway (barring Russell/Jeudy going off tonight but not Javonte) despite 2 total points from 3 spots in my lineup (Mike Williams, WTF?!?). Jalen Hurts, Justin Jefferson, Sanders, and based Chris Boswell (with the 52 yard game winner as time expired in OT in the craziest game I've seen in years) did the work for me this week.

Sigh. All I needed was for Godwin and Dak to not suck balls to win and they both get hurt. I was able to pick up Julio off waivers right before the game and have CEH and Henderson on my bench so I've got some decent flex options. Just need a QB now.

I've already got two potato offers in the two leagues I have dak. Brady for Michael Thomas and Derek Carr for Gabe Davis.

I think I'm just going to stream starting with Wentz @ DET.

4-0 for the week somehow. LOL.

This week's decisions - PPR flex:
Bateman vs Miami (could see a lot of Xavien Howard if he's not on Mandrews instead)
Dotson @Det (week 1 fluke or not, and I mean Wentz, not Dotson…)
Chark vs Wash
D. Pierce @Den
Stevenson @Pitt (Pitt def was awesome last week, but not great vs run in general)
Pickens vs NE

Leaning Bateman, but I'm not sold on that, so I could be talked out of it, too. I fear he can't beat Howard, but really Andrews is their #1 target, so he might be the matchup guy. Lamar looked good throwing.

if you chase targets it's actually Chark. But that was a pretty wild game (no reason why the Washington game won't be though). He's always been hot and cold so you're risking a zero.

Pierce looks like he was a summer hype beast who doesn't actually have the role secured. ditto Stevenson. not crazy about any of these guys. I guess i'd go Bateman first followed by Chark, hoping the ravens game is competitive and Lamar makes more use of his main weapons

Thanks. It's a flex in a 12 man league, so I think all season, and especially at the start of the season before roles really emerge, it's going to be a string of weekly guessing game choices between guys with question marks. Bateman was the highest draft pick of all of those guys (this league drafted before the Pierce hype train really got out of control). If he just gets Hollywood's targets, he'll be fine (they were both 1st round picks for the Ratbirds). I think Duvernay's 2 TDs were a fluke last week. He's third on the target pole in a run first offense.

I think Pierce's role will grow over time, but it's tough for a rookie at any position to be a full time player right away. We'll see if he eventually becomes a legit flex option or not. Rex Burkhead is not much better than replacement level so the opportunity is there, but he's obviously far more trustworthy than a rookie in the 3rd down/hurry up role at this point.

Here's another one, again 12-man full PPR flex:

A Rob vs Atl: Oof, where did he go?
Henderson vs Atl: Is he going to keep an 80-20 split over Akers or is this Akers bounce back week
Landry vs TB: Probably safest floor, but last week was ceiling
Palmer @KC: IF Allen is out, should be a shootout

This is another tough one. If Allen is out Thurs (since he has a short week to recover), is it worth a play for Palmer? He didn't do much in week 1, but his hype train was picking up some steam at the end of the preseason, too.

I also currently have Jones and Dillon starting in my RB spots. I could theoretically move Henderson into an RB spot and bench one of them, but even though ceiling is limited, I love the super high floor of starting both GB backs and not worrying about touch splits. Sunday was the worst case scenario for GB as a team, and they still totaled 30 points, which is better than most combined RB scores in my league.

You'd expect Palmer to go off but training camp talks were about Carter. I'd expect Chargers to lean into Mike Williams and then spread the ball around to everyone else. Palmer does have a 75% snap count so hopefully he can take advantage, but I wouldn't trust him till I see full game with Allen out. (Palmer will now go off since I'm posting this). With ARob he was getting open but Stafford just wasn't looking his way, I'm gonna assume they look at film and correct it.

Thanks. Was Carter hyped in camp? I remember seeing tons of reports on Palmer, but nothing on Carter (I really just considered him a return man until Sunday). I have to think about this one, but you're probably right, I don't feel comfortable trusting him yet Thursday, but the upside is there for sure. Who is the answer then? Henderson? Atlanta stinks, so he could have a huge day if he gets 80% of the backfield snaps again. I like A-Rob even less than Palmer until I see something. Staffors's refusal to look at anyone other than Kupp and Higbee was alarming.

I dont know what to do with Cam Akers
I almost want to drop him but for now just plan to stash him on bench and wait a month

In the meantime i have some late draft pickups (gibson, sanders, carter) and all of them are way better than akers right now
Got Gibson in the 12th round and Sanders in the 14th.

In the same boat with Akers, don't want to drop him yet either. Maybe see who the Henderson owner is and see if he'd trade a start-able WR or something so he could have Akers as a handcuff and make him someone else's problem

Definitely not dropping Akers. I'd even start him this week in a pinch if I had to, but fortunately, like you, I have Sanders as a replacement, so I can just stash him for now. It just didn't look like he was 100% healthy. If it's still his Achilles, he might be done for good unfortunately, but he did also have a hammy issue in camp, so I think it's more likely he was a little tentative because of that. McVay said he needs to play with more urgency, but he didn't even put him in until the second quarter, so that says to me that there was a health issue before the game even started.

Anyone pick up Taysom Hill? I got him off waivers and will let him ride the bench for now. If they keep using him the way they did It might be worth the TE spot.

hold Akers. let him do it in a game before you put him back in the lineup. obviously do not drop.

curious on how you all see this scenario. pick one for my FLX. half-point.

Chase Edmonds @ BAL
Miles Sanders v MIN
Rashaad Penny @ SF
Jeff Wilson v SEA

i honestly like Wilson a lot. Miles looked good last week. Chase gets the catches and will be busier in a more competitive game than last week. Penny looked explosive but I'm worried Seattle is going to stink.
