Chicago food Critique

I am heading to Chicago next week, going to be there for 2 days only but here is my List so far of where I am going:

(LMK chicago brahs what you think)

Breakfast: Walker Bros - pancakes and french toast
Honerybear- french toast

Cinnaholic- over the top cinnamon rolls(my wife's favorite sweet)

Lou Malnati's for her first authentic deep dish Chicago pizza(just going for first time authenticity)

Sweet Mandy B's Bakery for some treats for the second leg of trip to Wisconsin

Any lunch/cool market ideas we obviously have sweets/breakfast/pizza picked out

Do not read cwbchicago, you will become paranoid.

Does Gino's east still exist? They're better than Lou's.

Portillos for casual meals and Al's Italian beef.

Do the architectural river tour, it's the best thing to do in Chicago. Shedd aquarium is awesome too.

Stay safe.

Lou malnatis is bottom tier pizza.

Go to Unos (#1 for deep dish in my book), then Ginos East (#1 for thin crust)

At Unos you can try any kind of deep dish you want, but i prefer the pepperoni

At Ginos East, get the Diavola thin crust. absolutely hnnnghhh

For the best cupcakes in the city, go to Molly's

Portillos sold to a corporation and went downhill. Rest of recomendations are on point. I'd also recommend a walking food tour of chinatown, Science and Industry museum, and the Art Museum (thought it was going to be boring and a bunch of paintings...turns out they have an entire section on medieval weaponry and armor and the modern art section is good for a laugh)

Born near Chicago, I'd go with Gino's East as well, then Uno's..two locations, go to the newer one, for some reason it just tastes better.

Science and History Museum is top tier if you are into that..otherwise Gibson's Bar and Steakhouse, and SuperDawg or Wolfies for best hot dog (Chicago style). Also check out Buckingham fountain/Park

Ginos east was already in Austin and was supposed to be pretty close to chicagos

Uno and Ginos both are too crusty, I want her to have the THICK deep pie crust deep dish pizza like Giordonos and lou malnatis for that WOW factor of a DEEP dish pizza, and again the pie crust type not the bready focaccia type deep dish.

I see how uno and ginos can taste better for just a good tasting deep dish, but this is a once in a lifetime experience deep dish so its got to be the extreme deep dish over the top.

Where are you staying? I'll give you the best tips bro.

You'll be safe as long as you aren't staying in the ghetto, lol. Chicago food and nightlife is amazing.

Lol'd at Gino's East recommendations. Lou's all the way. Get the butter crust. I always get pepperoni. So good. Gino's is overrated.

Lol'd at portillos recommendation as well. If you want a hot dog go to Gene and Jude's. Nothing else comes close.

Everything else sounds pretty good. Insomnia cookies is good for a late night dessert.

If you want a small meal in between or something try cheesies. Basically gourmet grilled cheese. Although I think that might be only in boy's town sadly. Can't remember anymore.

Posted this recently.
I've never done any of the Michelin starred spots and I'm not huge on very expensive/reservation places.

Pizza - Pequods or Lou Malnatis for deep dish, Pualie Gee's in Logan Square for detroit style pizza (they have won some pizza cup awards for this. Only get the squares)

Ramen - Wasabi in Logan Square

Burger - Au Cheval or the smaller locations called Small Cheval (burgers only at small cheval but no wait), Gretel in logan square has an amazing burger as well possibly better than small cheval for me.

Breaded Steak sandwich - Ricobennies or Freddies on 31st (you can also get beefs and sausages from freddies. It's similar to portillos but by sox park.)

Mexican - Mi Tocaya (reservation only)

Taco's - Carnitas Uruapan, Atotonilco, Taqueria Mazamitla on Belmont. There is not many authentic mexican spots downtown. Your best bet is to head to Pilsen area or Little Village and you will have tons of options. Mazamitla is further north.

Cocktails - Three Dots and a Dash (tikki style, reservations on the weekend), Arbellas (amazing cocktails and even some great appetizer type food), Aviary as mentioned above I've heard good things but have not been yet. Estereo in Logan Square (not gastronomy cocktails but really good latin themed cocktails, long lines at popular times on the weekend) As a tourist I highly recommend going to the London House Hotel rooftop and have a drink or 2 because the view is one of my favs in the city.

Hot Dog and general Chicago style food - Portillos or Freddies on 31st

Fried Chicken - Budlong or Parsons

Steak - RPM Steak, Gibsons (heard good things), Maple and ash (reserve the dining room only, patio is limited menu)

Seafood - I don't eat seafood and I can only recommend mexican style places. El Barco or Alegrias (right next to each other), Mariscos La Costa (the best according to my friends but further from downtown)
What are you on about mate?
