Give Me Your Best Dress Shirt Brands (srs)

Been going through my entire wardrobe and cleaned out everything. Got rid of 50% of my cloths. Pretty much down to the bare bones.

The one thing I need is more dress shirts. I only have 1 that fits now and even that is several years old.

Need suggestions brahs. Will rep til I'm out.

Honestly, just bought some IZod, Chaps and nautical and they work fine in a pinch. (Dress shirts and button downs)

I also have a thing for Robert graham, but it’s pretty loud

I have a lot of nice old facconable stuff I took from my grandpa and had tailored down that I end up using a lot too.

I like spier and mackay and kamakura

Really anything that does it by neck size

But i find its rare for dress shirts to fit OTR if you lift so you'll almost certainly need it tailored

Have you tried getting sized for a proper fitted shirt instead of going with small medium large?

I get dress shirts that fit my neck size which i think is 16.5 iirc. (no necklet)

I still have to get it tailored but at least its guaranteed to button up all the way. I usually just wear my dress shirts like t shirts though cause I'm a software engineer and it's easy to unbutton **** and roll up the sleeves

Depends on the type of shirt you want. Are you wearing it with a suit? Business casual? I’d start by going to a tailor and getting measurements. Even if you don’t get your shirt tailored, the numbers are important. Next is figuring out the type of collar that you want. Once you know these two things, you can usually pick out something that will work. Buttons, thread count, material, stitching, etc, is stuff you can think about later if you care to.

Yeah just had been going to one tailor and used him to fix about half my wardrobe. But had another tailor start picking out fitted canali shirts that just fit so nice I’m not going back to fixing shirts that don’t fit perfect.

Yea that's literally what I've been looking at (Charles Tywritt) and the price is tempting. I'm looking for 3 shirts most likely so that deal is perfect. I just didn't know how the quality was.

Armani does not fit well at all. Price wise it is annoying as well. These are more transitionary ones maybe for a couple years.

Lol at Canali. I'm a poverty brah so those are out of my wheelhouse.

Mirin button up style though.

Yes spier and Mackay was recommended to me too. I am going to look at those.

My only problem is that my neck has shrunk a bit (16in now) and I have broad shoulders but have gotten even thinner waist wise. So I'll have to do some measuring quick to see how things will fit.

I’m going to add that stitching, material, buttons, and thread count do matter in terms of longevity, feel, and quality. That’s why a lot of expensive brands (not all) are expensive, they do that thinking for you. But honestly, if a guy is judging you by the stitching of your shirt, he will probably be a chit friend, though possibly a good business partner. Most people, including women that you may be dating, typically notice what fits first and foremost.

Yea I'm in athletic semi-twink mode right now. 185lbs. If I was in my shape 2 years ago at 230lbs I'd be going with that brand. My neck is down to 16 in now so it's pretty normal sized.

Arm length is worth looking into. Too long/short can make the best shirts look stupid.

Edit: this shirt was worn a lot and it shows, but it held up over many years and looked good. It made me a fan of the brand.

Turnbull & Asser are one of my favorites.

But any breh who lifts should get made to measure shirts imho. They are far superior in terms of fit, arm length etc. They fit so much better.

I used to wait on sales and pick up a couple brooks bros shirts every year but haven't looked back since I found Charles Trywitt -- quality is decent (nice collar rolls, love their poplins and oxford cloths) and the slim fits don't require tailoring for me so it's a plus.
