Why do some people clap when they're laughing?

I'm not talking while at a comedy stand up. Talking about if you have a friend over or something or at a bar having a casual conversation, and someone says something funny, and someone laughs, but also claps at the same time.

Always found this odd. I have a friend who does this sometimes we will be watching a movie say a comedy, and in the funny scenes he will clap like this too...
