What's the point of MARSOC?

Marine Raiders are capable of direct action, special reconnaisance and foreign internal defense.

Direct Action is already done by Army Rangers and Navy SEALs.

Special Recon is already done by Marine Force Recon

Foreign Internal Defense is already doen by US Army Special Forces Green Berets.

What was the point in creating MARSOC in 2005?

Only Rangers do DA? lmfao.


But who is MEU/SOC? Literally a basic as Marine line infantry company, with not even half the training or equipment Rangers have/get, have pulled off Embassy evac, GOPLAT, NEO's...etc...etc...without having to get a ride from the Air Force.
The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Not arguing that. MARSOC was created because JSOC fought, for decades, letting Recon into the community. The army has it's head so far up its ****ing ass, that USAF Combat Weather was JSOC before any Marine element.

I mean, I'd be jealous and vindictive if I was just army.

All kidding aside, it’s good to have units for highly motivated and capable people to aspire to. I think they need to find their niche and be used appropriately.

I mean...just off the cuff...a bunch of regular 03s rolled into ****lia as 15th MEU, and curbstomped the place with the typical cast off kit from the Navy, and with their own air support.

To the point where there were zero Marine casualties.
