I really don't get it.

Whenever there's a field dominated by women, men flock away (nurses and healthcare, psychologists, teachers, ...)
Yet, when there's a field dominated by men, women start crowding in (tech, military, engineering)

It can't be all about the money, else they'd just become doctors or surgeons.
Also, pretty sure that whenever women flock to some field, the salaries start decreasing drastically.

So what gives?

Money + Freedom. This is what I value, though I would hardly say it's a competition. I enjoy the game but I'm not interested in actually competing for much, especially against men. I know what I bring, a bunch of dudes or other women for that matter are irrelevant.

I'm pretty sensitive to how others are doing and feeling, so I doubt it, but the possibility has crossed my mind.

I used to be pretty competitive, now it's just a way to pass the time between bike tours and baking. I'm content with what I'm doing and with what I have.

I worked at a large engineering firm (known for attracting hypercompetitive, top 10% engineers) and the girls were from a different planet. They were all hot as fuark (seriously, so many 8/10 girls) and insanely competitive, like they couldn't stand being one-upped by anyone. They also formed super cliquey circles and undermined their male managers and would try to get them fired and demoted (100% srs, this happened to a project manager who was my buddy and he was basically forced out of the company). Made me realize that women are NOT to something to fuk with in the workplace, absolute savages srs. I just don't understand what will happen when they start popping out babies (which is another aspect of life women get incredibly hypercompetitive about... they were first all in a race to get engaged and married, now they are all in a race to have kids and.... no longer work? not sure how thats gonna turn out)

Competitive girls are a menace in the workplace because they know how to use seduction to get their way. It's not just something you hear about... that chit actually goes on every single day at nearly every company.

I love when women argue that for a woman to make it she has to work "Ten times harder" to get the same respect. I'd like to see that woman that works 10 times harder. Almost every time the bar is lowered for her. Prime example would the the military.

Know of a guy who's an electrician and they had to hire a female and she had done the book work to get in and was now in the field so she was an apprentice. Part of what you do when you are green is pull wire and carry things, bring things to the journeymen. Of course carrying anything over 20lbs especailly up stairs or a ladder was way too much, but they exempted her which put more work on everyone else.

I've totally been to a construction site. Its usually 10 gheys standing around while one guy is working the crane. Women definitely can do the same things men can, just slower.

Not to digress, but this touches on something of which it is worthwhile to discuss the other side. What I'm about to say could be interpreted/spun a number of ways. ONE could be that someone could try to use what I'm about to say as a personal attack and say "that it's why I hate women" which is untrue. I just happen to think that we don't really live in a patriarchy (or a matriarchy, either - we live in a messed-up-archy), OR one could say that I'm trying to put things on an even playing field by suggesting that men have the same problem as women.

I gotta tell ya. UTERUS ENVY is no joke. No joke at all. Just read up on it. One basic argument for deeply-seeded uterus envy in men is that while men provide the seed, the women do everything else and grow it for 9 months and then are the predominant ones directly involved in child rearing. And then other things come into play (this is something that the pretty-high-ranking professor at my college elucidated in discussion in the "Philosophy of Gender" class that I took) such as there being a sort of subliminal orgasm that often happens at least between woman and child in child-rearing instances such as breast-feeding, and that this creates a more powerful, primal bond between mother and child (either son OR daughter) than exists between father and child. Our professor himself made sure to postulate this more personally to us by saying that if he realized that and saw the close bond between mother and child that was forming of which he was not a part, how could he NOT be envious - ?!?!?! I have also read (and it makes sense at least on a certain level) that men are envious/jealous of this bond and of woman's ability to do the larger share of child creation, and this envy/jealousy plays a big part in men wanting to go forth and build things and create artworks and music and build careers, etc etc etc - the claim is that they do this out of not being able to create a child the way that woman does. So, one COULD say that men have this sort of inferiority complex, that of Uterus Envy, and that it is every bit as much an equal counterpart to "Penis Envy".

As a gay male, believe me, there have been times (and still are times) that I WISH I could have "so-and-so dude's baby". The burn is very, very real. Third degree? Try FOURTH DEGREE. Hey, at least I'm being honest.

When I was an engineer overseeing electricians at Intel, we had over 5,000 construction workers on site just to build Fab42. Sure we had "machines", but none of them could operate on their own, all required a skilled tradesman to properly use them to buildeverything...










And if you truly think they "sit around" you clearly don't know how things work on site... I myself "sat around watching", but in real life I was making sure my guys were installing chit properly and within an eighth of an inch to stay within BIM tolerances. I sat there with my laptop and BIM software and model of the site... to a dumb passerby I was "just sitting there doing nothing watching", but me and the safety guy were actually doing very important chit by watching over them.

That's just false. You already know that there were many key women who contributed greatly to technology or whatever. Simply being in the correct environment gives women the opportunity to shine. its just that women wern;t given that opportunity.

When you say you don't want a women team leader, all you are saying is that you want someone to work hard - there are plenty of women that do and plenty of men that don't. There was a vid about a lady who owns an IT business and complained that women worked less hard than the men. Uhhh yea, of course she would complain.
