Those two factors was probably the only reason the kid got that chance. I could understand if it were robbery with an actual deadly weapon, and I'm thinking that also affected his base charge which should be Aggravated Assault.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying there aren't times where authority figures bail out criminals, but this is a very poor example while there are better ones to use, srs.

I know, people like to claim that poverty creates crime, but impoverished cities like Morgantown, WV (85% white) where 30% of white people live in poverty has a very low crime rate. Compare that to Jackson, MS (83% black) where 25% of black people live in poverty.

In 2021, Morgantown's murder rate was essentially 0 when adjusted per 100k.
In 2021, Jackson, MS (at that time, the murder capital of the US) was 99.5 when adjusting per 100k.

Less in poverty in Jackson, MS but insane more murder. Culture is the root of crime, not poverty.

I don't know where those poverty stats from Jackson MS come from but they couldn't be more wrong. Every black person with money fled Jackson about 5 years after the middle class white people left. The 20% of white people left there are insanely wealthy and the 80% of black people there are ridiculously poor.
